If you just like him because he's cool, hang out with him.

Otherwise, the lasy, inconsiderate so-and-so needs his backend kicked into reality.

Change the locks and confiscate his stuff until he pays you what he owes.

Or sell ALL his stuff to a pawn shop and give him the receipts.

Roomate update

Well this is the compromise I have reached,
If I kick him out then I will never ever see the money.
If I let him stay then I will have more of the same.
The saving grace here is that his boss is my brother, I spoke with my brother and he spoke with the roomate, whats going to happen is if the roomate is not totaly cuaght up on his rent and other stuff in the next month then he looses his job.

I have turned off the TV and the power into his room and will turn it back on as he pays what he owes.

I Told him to look at this as if i were a booke, Dead he is worth nothing, gone he will never pay so Im keeping him close, his pay checks will be made out to him and me, I will take him to the bank to make and get my part in cash.

As for the Mt DEW, I told him he could have as many as he wantedm they are 3 bucks each in cash and they are under lock and key in my office, I put 6 in the fridge each day, what I dont drink he does so I know how many he has gone thru.

Harsh I know but I would rather educate him than boot him.
I also made him watch cool hand luke, I told him I was the captain and he was luke and that he had better get his mind right, He said yessum boss....

Umm all I got to say is get all that in writing, otherwise most of that stuff is illegal I would think, and the whole loose his job and pay check thing, I know all I would have to do is go to the Labor board and file a compliant and live off the settlement.

Or I can be a nice gut and try to reach a resolution, as outlined above the paycheck thing was his idea not mine.

as for his loosing his job that is a tranportation issue, he is picked up every day at my house, if I boot him he will no longer be here to be picked up. My brother is not willing to drive any extra miles to get him.

I would say its legal then, if he agreed to the paycheck and his brother won't be doing anything to your roomate as his boss, he will rather take away the favor he does as a friend, so techinally thats clean.

It's not legal for you to garnish his check without a judgement. He could also sue your brother for wrongfull termination if he fired him over his debts to you.
