Well, we got a 10 page thesus due in a month, and we have to do it about a book, author, series...etc etc. I'm sure as hell not reading the damn book, it's too big, but I'll watch the movie, no doubt How does the movie compare to the book, are the very similar?

But to answer your question, they are about 15% the same... hell, the book has the battle for Helms Deep as like 4 pages, yet the movie does like 45 minutes on it. And they didn't actually get to the "end" of the book by the end of the movie, if you've seen Return of the King, everthing to where Frodo is captured is in the Two Towers book...

Well, the thesus is on the charachters. Are the charachters the same in both?

really do read the book. It wont take that long because it becomes very entraping after a while. And you are chosing a really detailed book to do a thesis on. And the author. Tolkien was one of the smartest people ever to live and his history and details about his life go on and on. my sugestion, do your thesis on run, spot, run. Say how it relates to how we run around aimlessly in our everyday lives. Ready is good reading is good.DAMN THE MAN! SAVE THE EMPIRE!!!

You don't want to flip me into Tolkien Dork Mode, but essentially several KEY characters from the book are NOT portrayed very well in the movie.
Just read it, read the whole trilogy. You'll be happy you did.
