    Fiber Glass Subwoofer Enclosures...

Me and my friend are going to be attempting to build a fiberglass box for his 2 12" alpine subs, we want to to have the 2 subs raised and have an amp rack in the box, that will be lower then the subs. But we have a problem, he has some experience in fiberglass, but I have none. We also need a list of the things we need, this is what I have so far...

    Fiberglass Resign
    MDF(Medium Density Fiber Board)
    Sand Paper
    Poly Primer
    Steel Mesh

I have no idea how to do any of this, but if anyone knows any good sites that have a list of what is needed to complete the task, I would appreciate it. Also if anyone has done and fiberglass box's has any tips, please feel free to state them.

    Thanks

it's ALOT of work. It's really easy, pretty hard to screw up, but the sanding will kill your enthusiasm fast. I do alot of automotive fiberglassing. Where is he going to put the box?

          what the guys said above.

I am not sure exactly what you need cause i ahve not done it, but i have seriously thought about it a few times with my bud.

I have read that is a pain when it comes to sanding like someone above, and can be a pain in other places.

make sure you have good sealed encloseure first, before you start fiberglassing over it

In the trunk of his 98 Accord Coupe. We are going to Home Depot tommorow to see what we can get.

heck wall mart has what you need, the resin is problamy new too

a can of resin and a couple packs of fiberglass planket. for the face of hte box, to get the nice curvy look, use speaker fabrik and just strech it over a MDF frame. Get MDF at menards, home depot etc and the speak fabric from radio shack.

where in the trunck does he want to put it? spare tire well? or up against the sides?

Either way make sure you pull ALL the carpet out of the trunk, resin is extremly messy and impossible to get out of carpet, think maple sirup.

Its going in the wheel well. I am going to home depot in like 1 hour, then I will head to raido shack for speaker fabric.

If this box comes out anywhere near good, I will try and make one for my brothers car, before he goes to college.

also when my friend did it he coated his whole trunk in ducttape and after it all dried, he removed the box so he has a fiber glass box he can take in and out when needed
