thinking about getting a 95 pontiac grand am SE

it's a 4 banger, but it's the better of the grand am's 4 bangers. stats: it's got 85000 miles, remote start, keyless entry, working A/C, etc. it's going for $3000 at most (it's on ebay), so it might go for less when it ends. if i were to do the buy it now at $3000, would that be worth it you think? there is NOTHING wrong with the car, at all. no visual defects, no repairs required, etc. plus, on ebay, it qualifies for a 1000 mile or one month warranty. i'm really considering it, so what do you guys think? oh, not to mention it's really near my house so i could go get it in half a day.

Go look at it before you buy it.

yea, if you live that close, go check it out for yourself.
i, for one, like pontiacs quite a bit. my sister has a 94 grand am. i was impressed with how well it handled. the interior even looks cool

Had a '98 V6 SE that was a good car if it helps you at all.

I would definately try and get an in person judgement though.

If it's to far you to go and you have no one in the area, you might try and call a local service shop, pay them an hours labor (credit card)to do a prepurchase inspection.Tell the seller where to bring it before you make final payment,if he would agree to do that.

my bro and sis share a 96 V6 SE.

its a decent little car, has some zoom, the suspension has been a tad bit troublesome, and it shares the same rattling starter with the Cavalier... which is annoying IMO.

I don't like the blindspots, but the seats are comfy, and the red dash displays are cool.

Go check it out, see if you can drive it, BEFORE YOU BUY IT!

Check it on Carfax or one of the online registries too.

uh..going to look at it isn't an option. for one, i go back to college tomorrow. ebay's got a 1000 mile warranty, which is sorta reassuring. not to mention the guy's sold some other vehicles on ebay before with 100% feedback. i'm not too sure about getting this car but i'm still thinking about it. what do you think if i can't go see it in person?

Oh god why a Pontiac? The only Pontiac that I would ever want is a Trans Am. How can you like the awful ribbing, nostril grill and bug eye tail lights, just ugly I have a loan me down 97 Camry from my dad, to my mom, to my sister, to me and I must say, its a 4 banger that feels like a 6 and there are no problems at all even at 70k miles. Lots of room, great stereo stock, and probably be with me for a long LONG time considering that my dads 87 Camry had 300k on it I would suggest any import sedan over a domestic because statistically they are better.

Buying without looking at it, is like going on a blind date Never know what your gonna get. Its a risk.

true, but ebay motors has certain rules...and it tends to be gestapo-esque with bastard sellers. or so i hear. i'm not getting the car for looks. i'm looking for a reliable midsize car that gets good mpg and has good(decent) performance. plus...the price has to be right.

After not paying attention to Mateo's anti domestic post lets look at some viewpoints here. The Grand Am is a good car, the 4 is a good lil engine, but if you can find one with the 3.8 you'd be loving life. Its a bullet proof engine and definately worth the extra grand it may cost you to get the upped package. I owned a 95 Bonneville SSE with the 3.8 and that engine was beautiful.

Never heard of a grand pre, but if you have a nice 70's grand prix with a a 400 or 455 (if they came with em), I would be more than happy to give you $500 for it

lol. i'll keep my eyes open. i understand that v6>4cylinder...but i'm confused about the liter measurement. does more liters mean better performance? i never understood that.

i'm also not set on the grand am; it's a car on ebay that seemed right, but i'm really not set on it. there's also a jetta on there that looks to be around my price range, and a couple camrys. most grand ams are way out of my price range, but this one isn't so i'm keepin an eye on it.
