        so they finally found planet X. they've been talking about this stupid thing for as long as i can remember. it's even in some of my old middle school science textbooks. "some scientists think there may be a tenth planet somewhere beyond pluto." ooooooo.

            Pretty much. There was some talk of demoting Pluto from planet status a few years back. A more precise definition of "planet" was devised, and it was decided that while Pluto didn't quite measure up, it would be grandfathered in.

            This new object is even smaller than Pluto, so I'm curious as to how they're going to justify calling this a planet, if indeed they choose to do so.

              They are leaving Pluto in as a major planet even thought it's probably more a Kuiper Belt object than a planet for sentimental reasons.

              They've now discovered a number of KBO's that are possibly larger then Pluto, and would meet the 10K diameter criteria of becoming a major planet.

              I say, if it's big enough, name that sucker and welcome it to the neighborhood!

                          I knew there was 10!!!...so in 5th grade i did get that question right...DAMN YOU WRONG TEXTBOOKS!!!
