our feelings in GTMO

Someone here pretty much summed up how we felt about the way the infantry is treated here in wonderful GTMO. Well, they put it to paper, and now this is circulating everywhere. Its pretty funny though, thought I'd share it with everyone here. If you take offense to this...I dont really care. Anyway, on t6o the good stuff:
We are the Infantry, always ready:the battelfield is the ground WE stand on. WE fired the shot heard around the wordl, stormed the beaches of Normandy and provide the blanket of security YOU sleep under. there is "US" and there is "YOU". YOU can say WE rely on YOUR aircraft, YOUR artillery, YOUR pay, YOUR food, WE know the TRUTH. YOU have failed to show up, YOU have failed to fire; YOU have left us behind, because of the weather. YOU ARE UNRELIABLE. We fight in all terrain, in all weather, WE rely on our rifles, our boots, ourselves...no one else. YOU live by your eight hour schedule, YOUR comfort items and YOUR political correctness. YOU are JTF, the Anti-Infantry establishment.

Our mission is simple; WE kill people and break things: WE are the Infantry.

GTMO isnt very big, and, yeah, I think we keep it mainly to make castro angry.
As far as killing...er, it is a necessary evil. No one is PROUD to kill...it is a job. Some of us accept it...some of us dont. Those that dont, are MPs.

Killing people is what they do, it's part of the job. (part of, not all of it)

If a person can't be proud of doing their job, and such a vital job as soldiering. Then why bother?

I've had plenty of milltary friends, not one of them was proud to kill a person. But they were are proud to do their job, which sometimes involves killing people.

If you can't understand the distinction of that, I suggest that you find some way to figure it out.

If army was here right now paintech, you would most likely be perm banned. I respect our soldiers, and every day that I get a little bit more mature I start thinking more and more about joining the airforce, just because I want to keep America free.

That has to be the most ignorant thing that I have been privy to in a long time. Even if it was supposed to be a joke; it is an affront to every man and woman who has ever donned a uniform for this counrty. Who are you, in your 15 years, to tell some one that they should have "Got a life and not joined the Army?" Do you realize that it's people like him that give you the right be ignorant? Did you ever wonder what would have happened if Eisenhower or Patton would have "Got a life and not joined the Army?" Ever try to speak German?
In my family, my maternal grandfather died a veteran of three wars, and retired a command sergeant major. My father was a tank commander in the OPFOR at Ft. Irwin. My uncle retired a full brid in the army, and my mother was in the Army as well. My step father is finishing up his time in the guard with a career that has taken him from Gernada to Panama to Kosovo. I respect any person who has made the commitment to do what you, painTech, never will. They have given back to the country that has given them so much.
Do you even understand what these people go through? They have the fortitude to put themselves on the line for something that they believe in. They have one shot to get it right where they are, and if they don't they aren't comming back. And you have the audacity to tell him that he has no life? That men like my father, grand father, step father, uncle; and women like my mother have no life? You stupid child. Go back to your small world and and hope that people with no life still care enough to keep people like you safe when you sleep.

As someone that gets the creature comforts Infantry will always get hats off in my circles. After all we occasionly dont have love for our pilots cause they break our jets and keep us from the beers but its the Infantry keeping charlie from crawling up into our fabric hilton and causeing some real havoc day in and out...

Oh and you nahsaysers that have the bawlz to turn on someone that sacrifices a bit of his own humanity to safegaurd your own, dont go to hell... go to france.

and to whoever asked, we still have the base down there because we have like a 50 year contract still left, or somewhere along that time frame.
