But I Am The Administator (Stupid windows XP)

I have way to much junk in my startup, but when I try to run MSConfig I get a message saying "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer, please contact your system adminstrator".
Now I only have one logon name thing, so this is definatly the administrator account thing, so why in the hell cannot I acess it.
    Ideas?

I go to users, click on my account, and it says computer administrator.

Try making a new user account with administrator priveleges. If that doesn't work, you can try doing a system restore.

          Good luck!

well how many of those programs do you actually use/need/know about. my suggestion would be to go to:

start->control panel->add/remove programs and then just take out some of that useless junk that you thought you deleted but might not have gotten everything(installer/uninstaller/etc).

also, download Lavasoft Ad-Aware 6.0(or whichever version is free) from their website or catch me on aim and i will send it to you. that will get rid of tons of spyware, unwanted cookies, certain virsus' and will allow your computer to function properly.

if you REALLY want to find out why you cant get your admin to work, catch me on aim and i can try to help you through it (xp is a *****, I know, i have a good amount of experience with it and I can help yah out)

Don't do system restore.....that seems like the token thing that is used to fix xp nowadays. Mine did the same thing, i did a little research, and i had to mess with my registry. I have no idea how it got changed...but it works now.

System restore means I loose all my stuff doesn't it? I just finsihed reinstalling everything from the back.
I use adaware and spybot, I have no problems with popups or spyware so thats not the problem. I have cleaned out my add/remove programs. The problem for the most part is not that I don't want the programs, I just don't want them starting with the computer, so I cannot just go uninstalling them. I guess I don't restart too often, and will just have to live with it.

Ill try making another admin account though.

Did XP come with your computer? If so, can't you call tech support from the manufacturer to help. We pay them enogh for these computers, they should still offer assistance after the sale!

I have no idea what kind of warrenty I have. Its a Dell, but I didn't buy it new. I got it off ebay, the guy only had if for a few weeks. And yes it came with XP, but tech support makes you wait forever, then they put you on with someone who doesn't speak english, then they transfer you to someone else and thats another 15 minutes.
