    Lucid dreaming

Has anyone else ever practiced this? I think its an amazing ability that we have but rarely use. For anyone who doesn't know what it is: lucid dreaming is when you realize you are dreaming within your dream. You awaken within your dream.

I have been trying to teach my mind to do this for the past couple of weeks and I have had astonishing results. First you have to master dream recall(remembering your dreams). I have done this. I used to remember 2-3 dreams a week and now I remember 2-3 dreams a night! In my opinion, thats an amazing improvement.

Last night I had my first planned lucid dream. I cant wait to sleep nowadays, I get so excited. Anyway, I highly recommend teaching yourself to lucid dream. It serves many purposes and is just plain fun. Your imagination is the only limit when lucid dreaming.

If anyone has any questions about it, just post 'em. I'll be glad to answer them.
"Men think they think upon great politcal questions, and they do; but they think with their party, not independently; they read its literature, but not that of the other side; they arrive at convictions, but they are drawn from a partial view of the matter in hand and are of no particular value. They swarm with their party, they feel with their party, they are happy in their party's approval; and where the party leads they will follow, whether for right and honor, or through blood and dirt and a mush of mutilated morals."

I've done it quite a few times. I can't really control it, but it's cool anyway. I've wondered while dreaming... why I was dreaming what I was dreaming.

Once in a while, I solve problems in my sleep. Particularly homework, programming stuff... things like that. I do remember dreaming of chess, but don't remember what went on.

I've done this a couple times too. It's kinda weird doing stuff in your dreams... I kinda first dream out my host world but then wake up in it and just walk around and do stuff... really weird... I did this a lot when I was younger...

Its really an amazing ability, isn't it? Miscue, you can control it with a little practice. Its not that difficult, it just takes some perseverence and concentration. I just bought Interpretation of Dreams by Freud, and I think that'll help me out a little.

But yeah, you can solve problems and confront situations when lucid dreaming. Its cool.

So you're saying that I can fix my school problems while lucid dreaming? School problems as in grades and dealing with annoying english 9 teachers...

I don't know about "fixing" them, but you can certainly confront them. If you're dealing with grades than I think studying will simply help. When you are lucid dreaming the sky is the limit. No, thats wrong. There is no limit. With the snap of your fingers you can fly around the world or make an SFL E-Mag appear in your hands. You can do anything.

Well I just had my first 'planned' one last night. It was over immediately due to the excitement that I got when I realized I was dreaming. That usually happens until you learn how to control your excitement so that it doesn't wake you up.

But anyway, I thought I was awake and I had bent down to grab my green notebook. I opened it up and started to write my dream down(keeping a dream log). Then all of the sudden I realized that I couldn't read any of the words on the page. That is a telltale sign that you're dreaming. I looked down at my hand and saw that it was all blurry and wavy and I knew I was dreaming. I got so excited that I woke up immediately.

These days I go to bed with great anticipation of whats to come. If you interested in any techniques on how to learn then just ask. I'll be more than happy to post them.

                        Ok Foo, heres some techniques:

                        1. Master dream recall(remembering your dreams). Do this by simply asking yourself to remember your dream tonight. When you lie in your bed awake , simply repeat that question over and over until you fall asleep. You'll be surprised at what you can train your brain to do.

                        2. Keep a dream log. Every morning you wake up, grab a notebook and write down your dream. Keep a designated notebook for your dreams and even a designated pen. When you wake up try to keep as still as possible and remain in the same position. Then think about what happened in your dream. Then bend over, grab your notebook, and write it down.

                        3. In about two weeks you'll start to remember your dreams everynight. Not only will you simply remember them but they will be more vivid. When you reach this point then you are ready to begin lucid dreaming.

                        4. There are several techniques to induce lucid dreaming. These are the two I use the most.

                        a) MILD. Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream. Its similar to dream recall, but this time you are focusing on awakening within your dream rather than remembering it. When you lie awake in your bed, simply ask yourself that you want to awaken within your dream. Picture yourself awakening within your dream and tell yourself your dreaming. Then imagine what you'll do when this happens. Repeat this self-inducing process until you fall asleep. It helps if you focus your eyes on one spot on the ceiling or even the bridge of your nose. You're basically putting yourself in a trance-like state when you perform MILD.

                        b) Perform reality tests throughout the day. I have found this to help me a lot. At random points in your day look down at your hand and study it. Observe all the little lines and cracks. Then ask yourself if you're dreaming. Of course you're not but by asking this question it plants a seed in your head. You'll be thinking about dreams in the day, thus increasing your chance to have a lucid dream by night. And when you see your hand in your dream you'll stop and recognize it, and then hopefully that will awaken you(inside your dream).

Those are basically all the techniques I use and they seem to be working so far. Sorry this post is so long, I tried to condense it as much as I could. And to answer that question: yes, you can play paintball in your dreams.

In fact that is my plan the next time i have a lucid dream. I will have an E-mag in each hand and I will light up everybody on the field. I'll be dodging balls like Neo dodges bullets. Haha, I can't wait!

If you have anymore questions don't be afraid to ask. I'm very interested in this stuff and I'll be glad to answer them.
