you can get out of it like if you have a bad back and can't sit for a long time or you need to stand up.
you can get out of it. but they should let you out of it if you are going on vacation just tell them
"i'll come but you need to pay me so i can replan my trip"
i don't know if that will work but....

Call your county clerk of court's office.

Most likely, your summons is for a jury selection pool of hundreds of people, which is then further divided and called upon by the county for the next six to eight weeks. You should be given ample time to make plans around jury selection.

Also, it's not far fetched that you'll get paid for jury selection, though it isn't much.
Here, jurors are paid $35 per day, which is a standard rate for all persons employed as volunteers for the county (same as voting booth and ballot handling on election nights).

Also, have you already paid for the trip? If so, this is legitimate grounds to get out of Jury Duty as well.

Best you can do is ask to postpone and do that another week. Its a reason. You cannot get out of it. You can however ask to be placed in another pool another week for good reason.

I enjoy Jury Duty. Its interesting and facinating. I have served many times in all kinds of levels of court. Often cases I am chosed for get settled before court date. Once I was not chosen at all. Only one that I ever served on went to jury. One of them that did not go to jury was a Molestation case. I was relieved we did not have to hear that one. Another was a wrongfull death work accident. Also settled before we had to hear it. One I served on was a guy shot someones Coon Dog. And he paid dearly for it. Ya dont kill a good Coon dog in these parts and get away with it..

AGD, where we are so good we can do it with only ONE tube!
