that's the link. i'm not interested in it, but my friend is and was curious if it's BS (or if it's dangerous). it doesn't seem like it's dangerous, but it does seem like it could be BS. what're everyone's thoughts?

If he ever buys it, tell him to never buy it from GMC. Everything there is a ripoff, even if you have a 10% discount, aha.

Why take supplements? Its pointless. You wont be taking them your whole life. Build natural muscle, in the long run it will be easier to gain and to keep your gaines/

I only take protein and L-Glutamine.

I weigh next to nothing, im not huge, im rather small, but i'm very very cut. Been lifting for a few months now, gained 11 pounds in the first month from just protein and lifting.

**Edit:This is toned down as much as I could btw. What this supplement involves is pretty scientific, I hope I did a good job explaining it!

            Ok here goes:

This supplement is whats called a "vasodialator" and all it will do is pump L-Arginine (which is a NATURALLY occuring Amino-acid mind you) into the nitric oxide pathway to dialate your vains and increase cardiovascular pathways. It is oxidized in the body and slplit into two molecules, one is citrulline the other a NO group. The NO then goes into the walls of your viens and ateries and causes them to vasodiallate. This is a normal response to cardiovascular activity as well, the theory is you will keep your body in this state all the time, thus making your veins seem to "pop" out of your skin and give you that pumped look all the time. It is also effective in increaseing bloodflow while the veins are in this dialated state.

This would be deemed beneficial to anyone working out BUT here is the kicker. Arginine is activated when you workout ANYWAY. Supplementing it will do nothing, your veins are not going to dialate any more than they already are at that point. When you start an excercise bout your body undergoes many amazing changes, vasodialation is one of them. That supplement is just another way for a company to make money off the uninformed consumer.

Notice that supplement has L-citrulline, that is a natural byproduct of the oxidation of L-Arginine ANYWAY. Yet they include it in this supplement as well. There is no current research that lists the benefit of ergogenic use of these amino acids together.

The main ingredient in this supplement is NAD, nicotinamide adenine dinucliotide. This is an essential coenzyme in metabolic reactions throughout the body (It helps your cells produce ENERGY by being involved in ATP Production which is the only form of energy your cells can use). It is an essential co-factor meaning that without the coenzyme, the reaction could not occure. The only research I've seen involving NAD supplementation involved those suffering CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), 30 to 50% of those involved responded favorably to a 10 mg/day dosage. Yet again, our body gets NAD from food (primarily meats and poultry) in the rate of about 4 to 4.5 grams per 4 oz serving. There is the theory that cooking the meat may partially destroy the NADH group however. I find this hard to believe because if this were the case, we would ALL be highly deficient in this coenzyme.

In conclusion, I would not recommend this supplement to anyone for the simple fact that it is a waste of money. Vasodialation is a natural occurence when the body is subjected to excercise. Eat a healthy, well rounded diet with plenty of meats, nuts and veggies and you will get all the L-Arginine, NAD and Phosphorous you need. Save your money and enjoy your food.
            hope this helps!

Hate to burst your bubble but the only thing that will effect growth at night is GH or Growth Hormone. GH is released naturally in your sleep during deep sleep or REM sleep. When you fall asleep, your hypothalamus senses this and tells your pituitary gland to release it along with other hormones. This initiates protein sythesis (making new proteins). Lets look at what a protein is:

An Amino Acid is one molecule and is a building block of proteins. Proteins are long chains of hundres of Amino Acids.

A peptide is a partial chain of Amino Acids.

A Protein is as I said, a chain of hundreds of AA's.

So, what is the theory of taking or supplementing more AA's into your body? Well, if you increase the availible uptake the theory is that your body will be able to produce MORE Protein than it already can. There is some truth to this and it couldnt hurt for someone with a deficiency. Growth Hormone dictates what happens and when. If you were to pump more GH into the body (which is highly illegal and can cause severe medical problems and mutations) then you would see increased muscle mass because your body would be building muscle at an incredible rate. GH is the limiter here.

                        However:
You can naturally increase the release of GH (in a safe manner) by doing extremely stressful excercises like Squats or deadlifts or leg presses. These are a full body type of excercise and will cause the body to need more GH to repair. Since GH cirulates in the bloodstream it will incrase protein sythesis all over the body.

Oh, and by taking protein at night you are putting increased stress on the kidneys and causing your digestive system to activate at a time when it should not. When you sleep, your body goes into a dehydrated state. It needs water to process protein and flush the nitrates from your kidneys during digestion and breakdown. If you are dehydrated this process is slowed down significantlly and much of the protein will pass right through the stomach and into the intestine and you guessed it, into the toilet the next day.

Just a tip, eat a healthy diet throughout the day and your body will repair itself just find when you sleep. No need to waste money on "nighttime protein" because it is yes, you guessed it, a marketing scam.
