    Tinting Car Windows....

My brother wants to tint his windows on his Mazda3, but he has no idea how much it would cost, has anyone here had their windows tinted? How much did it cost you?

Check for any tinting laws around your area. Friend got a warning for having his windows tinted too dark.

Yeah, make sure you have it professionally done so you know it is legal. Also make sure that you have them put a sticker on the door jam that states that it meets regulations that they're the company that did the tinting. That way if you do get pulled over and get a ticket for the tint being too dark you can possibly go after the company that did the tinting. If you go on the vortex there's a lot of good info on this.

I had mine professionally done and it still wasn't legal. Apparently NJ has laws about no tint on the front windows on a 4 door car. The tinter didn't bother mentioning that, so my car didn't pass inspection.

Click the link below for the current US and Canadian tint laws.

It's the same deal here in Michigan. My front windows are tinted but nobody has given me any crap about it (yet.) I also have very light and mild tint all the way around so it's only noticable when it's darker out and you look through both sides.

Usually the windows from the driver back (with the exception of the top of the front window) can be any color you like, but the front windows can only have very light tint be very light.

in NY i belive that you have to let in 70% of the light in the front windows and the back windows can be as dark as you want, my friend got pulled over and had to have the windows untinted in the front because his only let in something like 10% of the light

My wife used to complain that I played every Sunday - I did anyways.
                  Now I have no wife.
Moral: Now I can play paintball on Saturday and Sunday and afford to do it

i just got my 4 door civic tinted. i got a 15% all around with a "eyelid" on the front for $160, and that includes a lifetime warranty. i could have went with 5% for the same price. my buddy is going to get his montero sport tinted with 5% for $175, and thats going over the stock tint.

Taking my Mustang in tomorow (hopefully), to get my windows tinted. The guy running the store (small local business) quoted me 155 for all my windows. That price also includes a life time waranty.

When you get pulled over for tint do the cops have a special tool to measure light %?

                          Yeah, there's a tool, but it's laughable...

It's a card with a gradient chart on it. If they hold it up to your windows and it matches a certain amount of darkness then that's what they say it is. It's almost the same thing that pawn shops use to "visually" verify the quality of a diamond. They have a plastic sheet that has specific diametered circles on it. If the diamond fits in a certain circle then it's that weight.
