    Car Decision (again)

    Allright, heres my current choices-
    • IROC Z28 Camaro (late 70's early 80's)
    • 1999 Audi A4

If I got the Camaro I would probably have around $4000 to play with it. The Camaros I have been looking at around here are going for around 3000 or so.

I'm an F-Body fanatic and quite honustly I would think you would be happyer with the A4. The A4s are nice cars... it wont have the stright line acceleration... but the maro wont have the refinement that the A4 will have. Although ..4k will go along way twoards modding the maro.. decisions decisions. Ether way not bad cars.

That would be me. It was a 91 RS camaro, the last year for the irocs was 90. They also started making Irocs in 85, so good luck finding one from the in the late 70's, early 80's. I hate when people refer to all thirdgen camaro's as Irocs

i'm thinking of buying a 3rd gen camaro, trying to find a 350 4speed, but i think they made less than 500 not sure though

They didn't make any 350's with a manual transmission. They stopped using 4spds in 84 or 85 I forget, and the 350 didn't show up untill 86 I think. The only 350 with a manual tranny you will find is a Firehawk, they made about 20 of them and stuck the corvette tranny in them. But be prepared to shell out a minumium of $20,000.
91z28 with the 1le had 240hp, and could be had with a 5spd, that isn't too bad. You can also swap a t56 into a camaro, it isn't that big a job if you know what your doing. And every camaro is a 350 when soemoen goes to sell it, look at the 8th charachter of the vin, it will be 8 for 350, F for 305tpi, and E for 305tbi.

                I love thirdgens

Get the camaro, because you will have the 4G's to play with.

Get a 91Z28 350 with the 1lE RPO (more power, MUCH nicer brakes, and a few other things). Then put a t56 6spd tranny out of a newer camaro because that can handle the 350's torque. Then just stick a shiney air cleaner on, headers, full exhaust will give you another 30hp probably, put some nice gears out back, put a posi in if you don't have one already, and your set
Then rebuild the suspention and steering, if there is an aftermarket performance replacement, get it for all the parts you can, get some good shocks, and struts, some nice lowering springs, no cheap stuff, make sure you get lower controll arm relocation brackets before or slightly after you lower though it will help it hook up, get some nice tires, be sure to get sub frame connectors, and a strut tower brace, then put in a cage. Make sure there isn't a spot of rust on the car, take out the interior, check the floorpans for rust, if you find any fix it, remove rust and rustproof the entire underside of the car, now $8,000 later you can start engine work
