Refs At Local Field Suck

I was playing a few days ago and when I was hit, I yelled for a ref so I could get to the dead box, mind you that there was a good 12ft. open lane between my bunker and the box and playing with a bunch of idiots, I didnt feel like making a shooting gallery. So I sit there yelling and waiting for 1 of the 3 refs, and I get lit up from the snake. 4-5 right to my knuckles and another 3-4 on my gun+tank. It just made me so mad how the refs wont do there job at this place.(tsunami paintball, NY) Sorry for the epic but its just amazing how dumb some people are.

That is why a few well placed bonus balls helps keep everyone honest!

im a good ref. i keep people in line with the threat of being a bad ref. or the threat that i will go out and play

YEP Hoppy' stays on his game fair and honest checks everyone and tries not to yell, He has gone out with his gun more than a few occations or sometimes the boss/owner at the field wier at goes out and deals some damage if sometimes the teams are off balence

Just remember that the refs are not out there having fun and playing, they are getting whined at, complained to, and shot repeated while trying to do their jobs. Reffing is one of those things that takes a lot out of you, and patrons whining about how bad of a job you are doing doesn't help too much either.

Yes there are bad refs, but more often there are burnt out refs who don't care anymore.

Wait, YOU get hit and you have to wait for a ref to telly you it's ok to get out? Why not do it the 'old fashioned' way and stick your gun up in the air and walk off?
The only reason (imo) that people wait for the refs these days is because they WON'T get out UNLESS the ref tells them to. If you're being honorable, you shouldn't have to wait for the ref.
And if people don't recognize a gun sticking straight up in the air, then they're the idiots, not the ref.

Here's how I see the situation:

1. I shoot you.
2. I look to see you leave the field but you don't.
3. Unbeknownst to me, you are for some reason waiting to be chaperoned off the field, much the same way your Mom still holds your hand when you cross the street.
4. I figure you are a cheating bastich icehole who is trying to wipe, so I move up on you and send a reminder (or 10) that you're out.

Here's another point of view: If there are only three refs, why should it be their responsibility to make sure you get to the deadbox? If they need to walk you there, that's taking them away from what's going on in the game. This isn't to say there were other things that would indicate they are bad refs, but I sure don't see this incident as an example.

If I was a ref, I would much rather have someone yell at me because my attention is focused on the game rather than helping some child get to the deadbox. I also didn't realize it's the ref's responsibility to walk you there. Next time, put your gun up and run! If you get hit couple times, big deal.

Here's some advice: if you ever play a scenario game, just stay out of the final battle altogether. You'll never make it out alive.

PBX Paintball or On Target, don't bother playing anywhere else unless you are playing with people you know and won't shoot you up.

Hmmm. ever think thatbeacause there was also an entire game going on, the 3 refs were busy trying to monitor the rest of the game, and they didnt have time to escort a player off the field, just cause they guy dosnet wanna get bonus balled a lil.

I reffed for about a year, ant it does take alot out of you. All day people whine and complain to you about stuff that most of the time that you didnt stop beacue you were dealing with another person who felt like cheating or using illegal paint.

So dont bash refs until you have been one and know what it is like. Trust me their job is not as easy as you would think it is.

That should be a basic rule of paintball: No judging the refs unless you yourself have reffed for a certain amount of time first.

My sentiments exactly. Stick your gun up and run. Don't walk.

You are just as bad as the people you call idiots for not just going out. Like someone earlier said how do they know you we not playin on. I'd shoot you too if you didn't somehow acknowledge that you were wearing my paint. Maybe these people you caled idiots have played eith you before and know hey this kid doesn't get out when he should.

The right thing to do in this situation is not to take the ref away form the game and wait for a personal invitation to the dead box,(no thats what the first few hits were for). You should raise your hand if you don't want your gun shot, thats what I do. Then if they shoot you wait till after the game and let the refs sort them out for shooting out a player who signaled they were out. And so what if you take a couple if you signaled you're out. It happens to everyone once and a while, and I'm sure plenty of us here have done it to some one accidently before. Typically most people just take it in stride cause they know this, and appologies are exchanged after the match. Its better than waiting there and waiting for somebody to really give you a bonus ball.

The pain is temporary and minimal, but the integrity of knowing when to walk out will stick with you.
