This year our prom will cost:

      $120 for a ticket
      $80 for a tux
      $85 for limo (per person)

Then add in $25 for a comedy club afterwards (or clubbing, or drinks or whatever else you do after) and you are looking at a nice $300 for the night.

Last year tickets were $100 to the prom, but they have since moved it from a location in NJ (30 minutes from our school) to a much fancier place in NYC (an hour away).

Those are the facts, this is my opinion:

Do you know how much paint I can buy for $300?!?!?
Pre-prom (pictures and get together at someone's house) starts at about 6 and the prom ends at midnight (though nobody stays the whole time), so thats 6 hours of prom, verses 8-10 cases of paint. Okay, lets say a case lasts me 3 hours (I don't shoot that fast, but lets just say that. Thats minumum 24 hours of pure paintball, or 6 hours of prom. That having been said, let me describe our proms.

First off, they play 2-3 slow songs and the rest of the time it is loud rap music. Now, I'm not a big fan of rap, but I don't mind it. However, 5 straight hours of it will kill any one. The only good thing is the food. Because of the rich *** places that our school rents out, the food is top notch, the stuff catored normally to black tie affairs, it is really good. But back to the rest of the prom. People normally leave after about 2 hours to go to other parties. The dean of students actually has to stand at the door to STOP people from leaving "too early". It is depressing because these people are paying huge ammounts of money on basically $120 worth of food.

My main issue is, hell why I can't we use our gym??? Maybe get a really good DJ, spend a lot on decorations and get a good catorer, but why do you need to fork out $30,000 to rent out an entire ballroom at one of the fanciest places in NYC?!?!? Nobody stays anyways! Our prom committee doesn't do any work except fund raising, that is ALL they do, no set up nothing, just collect money, sign a check and go.

You want to talk about the price of a prom reflecting how good a prom is, well, ours sucks and costs half of my e-mag!

PS. I think the girlfriend has her heart set on going, so I'm pretty sure I am going to end up there.

PPS. What is the worst part is that the reason why the prom commitee still has people showing up for the prom is because parents pay for EVERYTHING. Well, all parents except those that have an IQ over 50 (mine and maybe 2-3 other parents max). So I'm one of maybe 4-5 people that would pay their own way.

Do any of you remember the Hotel for AOSE? Well that's where my prom was held. Yep in a hotel. It was nice I guess. I can't really remember that far back. But anyway, tickets were like $35 a piece and it included a full sit down meal, a live band and plenty of room. I thought it then and I still do think it's crazy to have to pay for the prom. Well at least I didn't have to pay for mine. That's what dates are for

ehh, being from Jersey myself, you may want to shop around a bit for limos if you can't get it under $100 a person. (I guess it depends on how many people you have going...)

Can't really remember the price but it was around $60-90. It included dinner, DJ and was held in a hotel with enough room. That was from 92-96. Yes, I went to prom 4 times! First time was with a friend and the other three was with my gf. We are no longer together though, thankfully.

yep another good reason why im not going to prom. to cover limo, food, partys, tickets, tux etc, I would have to remove 300+ dollars from my bank account, AKA Timmy fund. another good reason is that i have no friends.

I've asked around a few places. I've never been quoted above $85 per person, with a 12-16 person model...
