    Digital Camera Memory

My mom is going to Ireland, and is thinking of purchasing a Digital camera for this occasion.

So my question is, about how much memory do I need to take 400 photos?

It depends greatly on the quality of picture you have the camera set on.At the lower quality settings you typically get something like 4 times or better,as many pictures for the same amount of memory. And even that will depend on the max quality setting of a given camera.

Ive got 16mb of memory built in, and I can fill up as many 128mb memory things as I want. For 16mb I get somthing like 16 pictures on high quality, and almost 200 on low, low isn't that bad, its what I use for most things and they come out looking pretty good, better than you would expect.
So it all depends, if she takes low quality pictures she could be alright with 32mb or so of memory, where if she goes to higher quality she could probably use up to several gigabytes depending on how good a camera she has, and her settings.

I think Shutterbug had an article about that a few months back.

But it was on the high res cameras.

Oh yea, BTW, megapixels do NOT mean a better image. It is all in the way it is designed and built. Optics. The way you hold it. Camera Shake. File type. etc.
