i got someone building a comp.. right now it shuts off after a few seconds.. and shuts down... it's a new mobo.. new hd.. new power supply.. old processor.. if i replaced the processor.. will it work? and yes all the parts are made for this processor... the only 2 things not new in the comp are the video card and processor.. nothing can be wrong with the vid card... so it has to be the processor right?

What size is the power sup? Secondly how far does it boot before turning back off? It gets video right? Did the processor work fine in the last machine it was in? And the final question.... any beeping before it keels over?
Could be a couple of things... this sort of err typicaly is NOT the processor. Prosessing errs are typicaly represented by program errs etc, although if the processor is really dead then yeah that COULD cause this.
Dont put having bad new gear our of the question... unfortunantly it happens pretty frequently.Sig image must be under 20k
