i just got back from my latest trip to the LAN cafe in boston. they had far cry on a lot of the computers, and aso unreal tournament 2004, and just about every other new big game. this place is so awesome, there computers are really reliable and cutting edge:Game-On! System Specs

Anyways, after playing some Battlefield Vietnam (also extremely awesome) I decided to check out far cry. i turned all the graphics way up, turned the screen res pretty high up as wel (256MB video card, i figured id try it out. i start out the game...absolutely stunning graphics first off. the water is unreal, it looks like your really starin at the ocean. The textures are immaculate, the shading and everything perfect. when you get the first big view of the outdoors...it looks like a picture, u can see very far away and its still pretty detailed. anyways, u see a quick cut scene of two guys talking, and the voiceovers could use some work. then it tells you about your stealth meter, if ur spotted then u can throw rocks and stuff to distract the gaurds. then u go a little further into the sewer, and you get a pistol and pick up some body armor. then you open the door, and see another very nice massive outdoor environment. you travel a little, then you see a guy fishing, and other guys walking around. here, you can either be stealthy and sneak around, or just blast your way through. i chose to blast my way through. the action is good IMO, its basically strafe and shoot, strafe and shoot. when you hit the gaurds, the blood splatter is pretty realistic and then afterwards you can see the holes in their body. its tough to hit people from far away with the pistol, or at all sort of. it takes a few hits for some guys. overall, for the short time i played this game, i was really satisfied with it. the graphics are beyond any other games, and the gameplay is pretty fun. 10 out of 10 from me.
