I have a marlin .22 that is an actual marlin design, very accurate at 50yards. With the scope at 50yards, standing, I can get about 3' groups, and thats standing......
whats the muzzle velocity? 3500fps? I heard 4000fps was what some special .17 ammo got.....

its awesome...
muzzle velocity is 2550fps, @100yds its 1901fps, and @200yds its 1378fps...
the tragectory of the bullet @100yds is 0.0, and @200yds its -8.5in
it looks soooo sweet... cant wait to shoot it tomorrow

and yah the ammo is $10 for 50, but its not like a .22 where you go out plinkin for 4 hours and blow through 1000 rds of ammunition...

my dad keeps a .22 around the house hidden in the basement for emergencies...sometimes we take it out shooting though. my uncle was in the military, so now he just has a buncha guns. hes got like 6 pistols, 4 rifles, and 3 shotguns. very very very fun times at the gun range shootin watermelons

1000 rounds for $200? thats not cheap
I can get 1000rounds 7.62x51 Wolf ammo for $80.
There is a special .17HMR that gets around 4000fps muzzle velocity... I'll if I can find out what it is....

yeah, but wolf ammo is crap...
some people dont like putting low qaulity ammo through their guns fand dnot mind paying the extra for the qualityI throw newspapers for the OC Register, it sucks...

Nice rifle. Is it a varmint rifle? I don't think I have ever seen .17 Calibre before except in my pellet rifle and that is .177.Comment

the .17 is a small round with a big punch behind it, it's excellent for "removing" squirrels (I got five yesterday). actually talking to my uncle, who works for the Marinett county forestry dept. up in northern WI, he said the .17 is unfortunatly a very popular poaching rifle. The less noisy small caliber; when used properly can easily be used to bring down a deer...
he said last white tail season the county cought 2 people poaching with the .17....
What I can say from my weekend with these two fiiinne ladies, is they pack a heck of a punch for such a small round.Comment
