They take your best scores from each test, i.e. if you get a 750/700 on one test and a 500/750 on the other you end up with a 750/750.

Like was said, all the colleges I've looked at take your best score on each part, and they don't care about the others. I also got a 1380, but when I retook it I got a 1510. 1380 Should put you anywhere you want to go, especially with a mix and match score of 1400.
What other schools in NY did you apply to?- There's no replacement for displacement.

On a scholarship note, many will only look at a single test.
I took the ACT 6 times I believe before I got what I wanted.
Is OU Oregon or Oklahoma?Last edited by bratch; 04-10-2004, 01:34 PM.There's all kind of songs about babies and love gone right, but for some unknown reason nobody wants to play them tonight.Comment

I only took the ACT once. I've had enough standardized testing. Took the SAT in 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th grades. I didnt like the ACT though, different format than what I was used to.- There's no replacement for displacement.

As others have said, when applying for an ROTC SCHOLARSHIP, they wont allow mixed scores, but my 1380 by far surpasses the requirement so i should be okay there...
i would like to go to the naval adacemy but my grades probably aren't up to it (only a 3.87) and i dont have a varsity sport. besides, im not sure if i want to spend college as a midi, it would be a different type of fun if you know what im saying. I like the rotc option because i can still have the college life and the commission when im done.
im only a junior so i havent applied for the schools yet, but for New York, im thinking of applying to Cornell (not going to happen, but whatever).
For the person that asked, its Oklahoma not Oregon. I have family there so i would still be able to have contact with relatives even though i would be out of california.
Im going to take the test one more time so if i can bump up my math score again (im not going to break my 750 verbal), ill have even better than a 1400. that should open doors even further.I throw newspapers for the OC Register, it sucks...

I hate people like you. You think a 1280 is bad? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Lay off the damn crack, damn. I got a 1240 and I had a huge smile on my face for weeks after I got my scores back. 1200 and above will get you into most colleges (well, your GPA matters too), with the exception of some ivey leagues.

Smegma: i just finished up with the whole college process. here's the deal: colleges will only consider your highest scores. they take your highest math and highest verbal, and forget abt the rest. they'll give you the benefit of the doubt when looking at your scores and figure you were sick/upset/wtvr while taking them the second time, because you showed yourself to be capable of getting a 1380. additionally, certain months have traditionally lower scores--i think i heard the april test historically has the lowest scores--so colleges figure that in, too. admissions readers are smart ppl.
i dunno which school(s) you're looking to get into, but SAT IIs are VERY important for a few reasons. 1) they're far less controversial than the SAT Is, and 2) they show a student's ability in specific areas better than the SAT Is.
another thing to keep in mind: "score choice" is no longer being practiced, so colleges see your scores for every test that you take, so prep very well before taking them.
lmk if you have any more questions abt college aps or wtvr.Comment
