As someone said, Strikes back was the last of Jay and Silent Bob (or so Kevin says). He also said that the idea and feeling behind Jersey Girl came from him being married and them having a kid. I am not so sure anything Kevin does is "for the money" but I am sure it is a driving force for everyone. You will however notice how as the movies go on they go from no named actors to much more popular actors. I do not think this is by mistake. Kevin Smith went from a cult writer/director to a more mainstream. Is this good, did he sell out, maybe, but remember, most do.

I vote for Clerks. It is in my top 5 favorites movies.

Also, if you have never seen it, get "An Evening With Kevin Smith" it's a great DVD and you learn alot about him. Also, be sure to pick up Drawing Flies. Don't forget for you comic book FREAKS out there, Stan Lee and Kevin Smith in Mutants, Monsters, and Marvels.

I had to votw for mallrats, that's the first one I saw. But I loved all of them, won't see jersey girl till it's on dvd.

Saw no mention of vulgar, that was a really strange one. Even had a smaller buget the clerks

I think he's totally over rated. The only really original movie he ever did was "clerks", "chasing amy" and "dogma" have their moments though.

However, when I stop looking at kevin smith movies in connection with some college dorm experience, were I saw most of them constantly, or through some kind of rose colored lense just because they made me laugh when I was hanging out with all my old friends I don't have anymore, i realize they're kind of lacking. Oh well, just my opinion, whatever floats your boat.

I've read and seen a bunch of interviews with him saying that the reason he did away with Jay and Silent Bob and moved on to Jersey Girl was basically for his daughter. He said that he didn't want her to grow up with the vision of her dad being a fat, goofey, stoner. It's late so I don't feel like searching for the interviews but they're out there.

As far as my favorite one, I would have to say Chasing Amy. It was on the lower end of my list of favorite Kevin Smith flicks until recently I chose to do an analysis paper on Kevin Smith last quarter and actually really watched it for once and have to say I think besides clerks it's definately his best one. Not to mention he paid to make the whole thing himself more or less.

Kevin Smith actually said that there won't be another movie with Jay and Silent Bob until atleast when Jason Mews stays clean and sober. I know it sucks but he's looking after his pal, you can't really blame him for that.

Jay and Silent Bob my fav, because they had the most "air" time. Second would be Mallrats. Vulgar was just strange... and the animates series was off because of the no swearing. But it was still worth it.

I would have to say Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

But Dogma in a close second..both movies are hiliourios(sp?)
