AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.

Ummm...not necessarily...do you wear plaid pants when you play? because if you do then it doesn't count...but i'll have to tell you that you look like a clown....

I play golf about 3-4 times a week and hit range balls probably 4-5 times a week. Of course it helps that i work at a Golf Course. My job title is Assistant Golf Pro. Thats just a glorified name for the guy who stands behind the counter in the pro-shop and charges people alot of money to play.
I hit MacGregor Musclebacks(see sig)and a Titleist 975D driver, Vokey wedges and a Taylormade Monza putter. The best thing about working at a golf course is of course free golf and range balls but insanely cheap prices on equipment
For all u high schoolers out there i highly recommend going to your local golf course and applying to work there. You dont need to know how to play, they prolly start you washing golf carts and picking the driving range. MOST.LAID.BACK.JOB.EVER
I play on and off but to the original poster about the clubs.
My dad has been custom making people golf clubs for the past 7 years (actually not as hard as it sounds) and I can honestly tell you that there is not much of a difference between the big names (callaway, ping, ect) and their knockoffs. All you pay for is the name. It's definately the player not the club...the only thing the club can do is give a false sense of confidence.
On another note; I hate to use anything BUT offset clubs. Especially my driver has to be offset. But man i can nail the **** out of it. Anyone else like that?
I used to use a set of King Cobra II irons, and a Callaway Driver.
Just last week, I 86'ed the Cobras in favor of a set of Titleist 822 OS irons.
Then I traded my Bertha driver to a buddy, and built a Snake Eyes 610T driver. The titanium head is much more forgiving than the SS head on the bertha (original Warbird).
I'm also giving the new RAM wedges (54 & 60 deg) a shot.
The only things I have left from before are my Snake Eyes stand bag, and my trusty Ping Pal Putter.
I still can't believe the size of the head on that 610 driver (385 cc), it looks like a BigMac on the end of a long stick.
I used to play, and was getting quite good too, but gave up around high school (late 80s).
My father got me started playing golf when I was probably 5 or 6, and had me enrolled in lessons and leagues from the time I was 10. Dad had played for 30 or 35 years and had subscriptions to every Golf magazine on Earth, so he had me practicing regularly.
I straightened my drive out when I was 13, and was out driving him by 30 yards when I was 15. By 16, I gave up. There's no pleasing dad! I can only imagine what Tiger's life was like living with Earle Woods.
What was most frustrating was that the local courses were fawning over a kid (Joe Ogilvie) who has been on the PGA Tour. He's bounced between the PGA, Nike, and Buy.com tours, though is presently back on the PGA. He was actually in the lead at the British Open for two days about 2 or 3 years ago!
In any event, when you've got a hyper-competitive father, your high school team included a future PGA Tour Pro, and the local club pros want to help the superstar with his game rather than you ... grrr ...

Yeah all the old farts at my course love those offset clubs
I'm playing in a golf league this year at work, but it' s most definately going to simply an excuse to go out and have a few beers and get some fresh air. I haven't played in year or so and sucked back then! Definately need to hit the range!
