Getting proper medicine is a lot like getting justice. You get it if you pay for it.

There are no simple solutions to complicated problems. Nor is there any perfect world. If someone tells you they got a simple solution to anything complicated in this world....they lying to get elected more often than not.

It's disturbing how callous you are. Please refrain from posting in my threads, since you don't add anything.

To the rest of you, thanks. I was having a debate with a friend about it (she was for it); I wanted to make sure I had the right angle.

I'm not sure it was intended like that... you see, in socialized medicine the only way to get better care is in the private market. It's private doctors like we have in the states that give you options and you decited according to health, comfort and money.. WHICH IS A GOOD THING! I'd rather have the option of paying MORE for better care then paying alot all the time and getting squat.

Socialized healthcare will guarentee EVERYONE's healthcare is worse.

It has never worked for any country. It wont work here. Don't beleive me? Go ahead and find some success stories. Find some studies that conclude socialized healthcare improved the nation's healthcare system.

Not to mention the Constitutional issues (which I'm sure concerns no one).

When you're friend mentions the rapidly rising cost for medical care for the elderly mention this one very important fact.

20 or 30 years ago the medicines that we now consider "too expensive" didn't exist. The reason health care was cheaper for the elderly is because we couldn't stop them from dying. Now we can cure things that used to be lethal with no reprieve, so it costs more. The care we give now is exponetially better then it was a few decades ago, so yes, its more expensive.

If it was easy and cheap to do we would have done it earlier.
Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

the whole prioritizing thing would bug the HELL out of me. If I am not paying for it, I have no ability to complain about how much it sucks. If I have to wait for six months because they think there are people ahead of me who deserve it more, that sucks for me. I dont wnat to wait. I want to have my surgery now! If I can afford to have it now, then why shouldn't I get to have it now.

rooster isn't being callous, as you put it, hes just being realistic. If you have more money thna me, you can get a better car than I can. Same goes with a house, luxuries, vacation, et cetera. Why not with healthcare?

                      Trust me... nothing is perfect

Im not going through 4 years of dental school to cut costs on my practice and possibly sacifice the best healthcare I can give to my patient just cause I can't afford to buy the right equipment.

It all comes down to $$$ unfortunately high cash flow correlates positivley with quality service.

Its not cause doctors are greedy its because its expensive to buy quality equipment and sustain a quality practice without proper funding.

                      For example:

Digital radiography that alot of us dentists use today emit a fraction of the radiation than do traditional films. Moreover they produce better quality prints. AND can be filtered by digital processing to make anomolies easy to detect.

They are MUCH safer for the patient and can detect dental caries and even cancer EARLY before when its still reversable.

Result: You get a 50 dollar fluoride and occlusal sealant treatment instead of a $500 crown or a multi thousand dollar inplant which you would have to pay for yourself.

It saves the customer money and they are in the end healthier.

The downside is that its expensive. If healthcare were socialized dentists would not be able to afford it.

Under socilized healthcare our technology would be limited by cost. Which results in a lower quality health care.

he made a perfectly valid point. an example even! I dont always agree with him (in this case i do), but he made a point. I suppose this is your way of saying you can't counter it?

I'm not saying she is, but listen to the medicare debates and tell how many times someone, from either side, mentions this.

Nobody ever brings it up, and I don't understand why frankly.

Sorry Alb, I wasn't implying that you said she was; I was just trying to make sure everyone know she wasn't.

No Kev, I could refute it, I'm just tired of him, he does something like this in every thread, whereas everyone else adds something useful.

This stuff happens here too, guy down the street from me went to the hospital with chest pains, after three hours of waiting in the emergency room he died without seeing a docter.
