    computer help!

    i'm getting a pop up from avg telling me that i have a trojan installer in c:windows/pup.exe i ran avg and it said it cleared it but i keep getting the pop ups. i even tried to go into the windows file and delete it but that didnt work. help!

    Delete it, then run MSCONFIG and uncheck everything you don't use/understand.

        ok i scanned it and it told me where the bad files are and stuff but didnt help with taking them out. i downloaded norton but then it immediately said my trial was up so i couldnt use that AVG found the virus and removed it but i keep getting the pop ups that the virus has been detected. i can no longer access anything on my desktop, what should i do?

          I look for any reason to reinstall windows(gives me something to do, lol).

          But other that that, You could try booting into safe mode, deleting it, the running MSConfig and unchecking anything that looks fishy under Startup.

            I had the same problem, I kept getting rid of it but it took over my Windows Media Player so it kept coming back. I uninstaleed Windows Media player, killed the virus, and then reinstalled WMP. All is good now.

                    To uninstall you goto add/remove programs and goto add/remove windows components(or something like that) on the toolbar on the left. Then just uncheck WMP.
