I got mine 2 months after the initial release. Only problem I had was it would freeze up on GTA III. Come to find out it was a game error as I tried it with another disc and it worked. I had it til about a year and a half ago. It was stolen and so now I'm patiently awaiting the PS3.

ya i heard about the ps3 too i am going to be very pissed off if they stop makeing ps2 games. i got mine right befor the price drop from 300 to 200 and that got me mad but hay it allways happens to me. it worked really good jest that the disc door sounded like it was going to kill over everytime i opened it and closed it. then i sold it for a nitro tank. i jest got one with the online addapter as a package and it loads right up. i have been reading alot of stuff about the ps2 and the newer ones have updated processors and load up a little faster and also dosent chop the img. whem you are playing. and mine is great. pluse plays dvds like a dream. i may be saveing up to get that hard drive thing. i read that it loads games like 5 times faster and i can rent games from blockbuster and savethem on the hard drive.
mmmmmm i should invest in that. but ya i get what you mean. i guess they are going to make them cheaper and cheaper so they brake and you can jest buy the ps3. all i know is this better now end up like the sega thing and they stop makeing games for the ps2 cuse that will really mad.

I got my PS2 the month it came out and it's been doing fine.
My Xbox on the other hand..... it has given me a few problems. I'll attribute this to the fact the Xbox has a HD and I carry it around alot more. (to xbox LAN parties and stuff). So the xbox problems are probably from it sliding around in my trunk

Electronic companies do this with many things. Have you noticed how it seems that TVs are becoming more and more of a consumable item? That didn't use to be the case. Heck we FINALLY had one die after over 20 years of faithful service. However the newer ones weve had last a max of 7-10 years. I hear the new plasma screens are even worse because they will get shadow images after a while and require a "recharge" of plasma or something to that effect.
Of course it could also be due to the fact that Sony tries to build its stuff of the cheapest components possible as cheaply possible (the same goes for just about anything however).

PS2s are pretty good. they stand up to quite a bit of sand/dust. and they are engineered slightly smarter than Xbox. the PS2 has a breaker in it.. the Xbox has a HORSEPOOP power supply... ive had several go bad from 220... morons didnt learn, Xbox is 110 only.. dont plug it into the 220 outlet. but now im back in the states so my X is safe, but the power supply looks like it was manufactured by underpaid 3 year olds. Who makes something like that without a fuse? rockheads.

I got my PS2 right after they came out and it's still goin strong.
I bought a few broke ones off eBay once, fixed them and resold them for about $80-100 more than I payed. Fairly easy work too, hehe. Too bad not many people want them anymore. Everyone has one.Classic RT - RT02667

The problem is that there is a new revision of the PS2, there's actually a few versions of the PS2. Every time they make a new revision it is to cut cost, the latest one they went really cheap on some stuff and that's why they are dying. Even the debugging stations we use here at work are dying, the same thing happened with the PSX. Can any one guess how many revisions of the PSX exist?Comment
