now you can help me find a new TRUCK/JEEP instead!

you guys shot me down pretty bad. its not only illogical and not relatively functional for me to try and get a muscle car, but its way out of my reach too. now for plan B, my original plan, a truck or a jeep.

    Truck:
the good thing is i can haul around my bike, skis, lawnmower, whatever other crap i need to haul around. bad *** factor is a bit better than a jeep. if i drive a truck, i can kick your *** while you sit in your mazda. trucks are sweet, ill be the only person i know who drives a truck around. i could make my truck just as much off-road capable as a jeep, so thats no factor. there are some in my price range (preferably much less than 1000) that could be ok. down side is that if i buy it myself, itll be a 2 seater, 3 with a middle in the front at best. id like to be able to give my friends rides, so this is a bummer, id really like passenger space. if someone could point me in the direction of a cheap double cab, that would be great.

    Jeep:
i can still haul stuff around, but not as much. everyone and their mother has a jeep. far more expensice, probably more than i can afford anyway. good thing is its got lots of people room, which is a major plus.

does pyro know as much about this as he does muscle cars? we will see
SIG RULES SUCK REAL BAD AND THEYRE STUPID AND DUMB AND THEY STINK AND ARE STUPID AND I HATE THEM AND THEY SUCK REAL BAD

Well I probably know more than most people my age about muscle cars, but I really don't know a whole heck of alot.

As far as trucks go I cannot really speak from experiance not having owned one, but if I was going to buy one I would go for a dodge. For $1000 though your not going to get a whole lot, maybie an older Dakota. With a GM you may find somthing around $1,000 in decent shape, but it won't be the nicest truck. Ford, well just stay away from it.

As far as jeeps go for $1000 your looking at a rusted out old CJ, or an 80's Cherokee, thats about it. They're half bad cars if you get one in decent shape. I know a woman who had 220,000 miles on her cherokee, original motor, tranny, etc. I had a Grand Cherokee I never got to have as much fun with it as I would have like too, but it sure liked to play in the mud, and on the beach, I got it a couple feet in the air a few times, and it never gave me a problem save an oil leak (rear main seal) which is a problem alot of grand cherokees have.

As Pryo said, I cannot speak for trucks because I've never had one. Right now I drive a Grand Cherokee with the inline 6 4.0 liter engine. I get great gas mileage(for a truck/SUV). Right now I get about 15 miles to the gallon in the city; roughly 20 mpg on the highway. Stock from the factory jeeps come ready to go offroad(unless you buy a base model Wrangler which has the wussy tiny tires on them). Jeeps have good, long running engines. The inline 6 lasts the longest, the 5.2 and 5.9 liter V8s tend to have more problems but they still tend to be minor. Even to this day the transfer case and shifter assembly is mechanical(more common is to have vacuumm hoses, which tend to blow if you do a lot of shifting) and give you lots of options. There are two kinds of shifters too; Selec-Trac and Quadra-Trac. Selec-Trac comes on Laredos stock and are an option for limiteds. You can choose between 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel full time(all wheel drive), 4 wheel part time(true 4 wheel), neutral(completely disengaged the differentals, even if you shift the transmision into drive it won't move), and 4 wheel low(lots of torque going to all the tires, can't drive fast, mainly used for pulling things)Quadra-Trac comes 4 wheel full time, neutral, and 4 wheel low; there is no 2 wheel drive. Regardless of your engine, you will get a lot of horse power and a lot of torque. I think my inline 6 is about 195 HP and around 300 ft.lbs torque. All in all, Jeeps are extremely capible off-road trucks straight from the factory(standard with posi-slip differentials on Grands), lost lasting, comfortible(for your friends ), and easily modified. I love mine.

        toyotas,

toyota pickups, then are really can take a beating when your off raoding, trust me i know from doing so my self, rolled my 85 4runner 3 times and it still works great but looks like hell, for $1000 you can pick up a nice toy, or chevy,

For chevy go for ones older then 86, with a 305 or the 350 with a auto tranny it might be a th350 or th400 or depending on the motor or the 4speed that has a 6 to something ratio i forget, but its really low , they have a np205 xcase (try to saty away from the 70's blazers cause they a np203 xcase with a full time four wheel drive and it kills you gas) and thats a bullet proff drive train right there, the stock axles are great for running 33 or 35in meats. And it can kill any little honda,

For Fords try to find one with a auto tranny cause it might be the c4 or c6, the 5 mazda tranny is really weak if you do lots for four wheels you will hurt it, But the good thing about ford is that there are lots for engine options, like a 302, 289, 351w, 351c, 390, 460, go for like a 80s super duty cause they have a solid axle, but if you get an f150 with an IFS you can do an axle swap real easy

For jeeps that are about a grand they are going to be in hell, but if you really want one go like an 87 yj just cause it was the first year you the square headlights and it scared some people form getting then, but you can find them really cheap, But once in a blue moon you might find a Cj5 or cj7 thats is in ok shape for about $1500
Use a table to get it smaller in over all hight

            Go Jeep!

I have had 3! A wrangler, a cherokee, and a Grand Cherokee! They ran forever with low costs. The biggest repair I ever had to do to my wrangler was to replace the radiator when I puched a whole in it offroading!
