Yeah, I tried that the about 0500 on the morning we launched our first strike. It didn't work. So, anything you have trouble getting at the PX you need, anything to help boost morale. I know on our deployment candy was always good.

Every Day for all of you over there, and around the world.

btw, my son nick is home on leave. It was very good seeing him again, even if it was only 5-6 months ago I saw him off.

I hugged him and told him how proud I was of him - of you all. Keep Safe Army!

        Hey Army

Hey Army, God bless you and all your men out there fighting for us. My brother is out there in Iraq performing convoy escort missions in and around the Baghdad area. He's told me some stuff and sent me some pics, and I just have to say, you guys are the bravest SOB's on the face of this earth. If everyone knew what you guys go through on a daily basis, you guys would get paid more than people in the NBA. Sadly though, that's not how it works. Good luck man, and stay safe.

Here are some pictures that my brother has sent me from the endless desert- http://24.164.155.61/iraq/

            Hello everyone!

I just had to share this marvelous experience, of the worst dust-storm to hit us since being here!

A few days ago, at about 2330 (2.5 hours ago), things were calm, slightly overcast, and nicely cool. Since it is Ramadan, the locals...and bad guys...were in their homes celebrating quietly. We were on a foot patrol about 600m outside the wire, when a warm wind sprung up. Not thinking much of it, we continued out to about 800m to the bridge across the canal.

I am not kidding, we could here a growing rumbling as the literal wall of sand/dirt/ultra fine dust roared in at, easily, 40+MPH. With our night vision on, WE COULDN'T SEE THE GROUND WE WERE STANDING ON! Awesome! Fantastic! This storm just bashed into us, forcing us to lay down on the road to wait it out (no, we didn't much worry about anyone trying to drive in it either!).

It took a good 15 minutes before the wind abated enough for us to see each other, and we could stand up. Buckets of super fine grit poured off us as we stood, looking just like a Sci-Fi movie! One of my new privates' had his helmet blown into the canal, because he failed to secure the chin strap, so we were delayed 20 minutes as we ran along the water to fish it out....oh yeah, the kid is still doing push-ups!

Anyway, EXCEPT for that, things are going very well here. No-one (US personell) has been injured or killed during our watch, and the bad guys are starting to leave us alone to find easier pickings. They have discovered that we don't like being mortared, and can return fire many times more accurately than they! heh heh heeeeeh!

You guys use PT fro punishment? Damn, glad I'm in the Navy. But speaking of helmets, I was on watch last night, and the rover comes over for watch relief, and the moron has his helmet on backwards. Myself and the relieving watch look at each other, look at him, and proceed to laugh like crazy. When we finally explained to the idiot what was so funny, he didn't understand that there's reason why the helmet isn't perfectly round and that there is in fact a front and back to these things. He is from this day forward known as Private Pile.

                    Heya Army,

Quiet night here in SLO, hope it's equally quiet out on the Eastern Front.

Nope. I have found that most military BB and forums are full of guys that spend too much time quoting regs and being better than you. Usually it's a waste of time to be there.

Example: On Military.com, some puke that had just graduated from small arms school, tried to convince me the M240G was inferior to the M60...dude, not even. Weeks went by without him listening to logic, facts, truth, or 16 years of messing with machine guns.

eh....I'll stick to AO, where I can lie about anything and get away with it.....LOL

Hey, are you stuck with any guys from Ft Drum NY? Tell them that snow has landed already, and this week calls for more.

                              Keep up the good work.

edit that was a bit brief-

I should have said how appreciative that I am to know somone is over there keeping me here safe.

whats the cost of automotive fuel over there? 2.06 for 89 here right down the st.
