      Hey all,
Nothing much to report as of late. Ever since the magnificent Marines blasted through Fallujah, the bad guys have pretty much left us alone. We have gone from 3-6 alerts a day, to 1-2 a week....it's kinda spooky, but very nice too. Even the amount of traffic that we normally get day to day has dropped way down...which is also very nice.

To all you Marines...thanks, for a job well done..HOOAH!

        Army-
I've been back on AO for the past two months or so, but didn't realize you had this thread going.
I spent my fair share of time at Anaconda... in 2003. Imagine that dust bowl with no force provider showers or latrines. We still got to burn it!!! Our "parent" brigade was stationed there, so that's where we picked up our mail. I spent most of my time on the road, but was based at FOB Speicher, just north of Tikrit.
It looks like this thread has quieted down a bit. Still, is there anything you need. I'll be sending a few packages to my buddies up north the week after Christmas. Just let me know

Just in case you heard it on the news:

Yes, that was our base that was hit with a VBIED. No, it wasn't at my gate, but we could see and hear it from ours. We are only about 1/4 mile from that gate, so the blast was felt and heard by all. We immediatley went to full lock-down at red status, ready for another to try to get in....they didn't.

No US soldiers were hurt, but we did lose 4 ING, and 14 others wounded from the better ING battalion that we work with. These guys are dedicated to making Iraq a better place to live, and put their lives in danger 24/7/365, even while at home with their families. That's something we don't have to worry about, and we honor their commitment.

                  HOOAH to the Iraqi forces.

How many Iraqis do you work with?

Each gate has a full company from the ING battalion. When we first got here, they were the ICDC; Iraqi Civil Defense Corp. Training and equipment upgrades have brought them to legitimacy, and full acceptance into the Iraqi military forces.

We didn't trust them as far as we could see them while ICDC. Today as ING, they are 100X more professional soldiers.

Just some advice, and I'm sure you know this, don't untill you are on the plane!

I hope for you and your family that the rumor is right!

We most def will have to try and hook up at an AO meet before I deploy again.
