windows media player was just spontaneously combusted.

i seem to have a bit of a computer problem. my entire windows media player has left the building, literally, its gone. it just seems to have uninstalled itself. this is the first time its happened, other than the initial time it uninstalled itself, which made me go online and download it from the microsoft site. if anyone can help me fix this, please tell me. im gonna go and download it again and stuff, but i dont want it to happen again.

also, ive got dozens of other computer problems. whenever im on for more than an hour or so, just listening to music and on the web, ill get an error, or my computer will start to slow down to a crawl in which my mouse moves once every few seconds and then itll totally freeze. every time i type a web adress in the adress box, 'user.exe' gives me an error and i have to restart IE (i solve this by 'google-ing' every site i go to). every time i click a link that brings up a new window, itll freeze for a minute, then the new window comes up. just these general annoyances in addition to the fact my media player has disappeared. anyone wanna gimme some help? ive used adaware and spybot search and destroy

EDIT: 'msbb' is giving me not one, but two errors on startup

User.exe is a registry problem... ouch, cause that sucks.

You can try running one of those registry cleanup programs and maybe adaware or something to make sure you have nothing goofy in your registry. Honestly you might need to reinstall windows if your registry is hosed.

Sorry man... sounds like Windows is nicely hosed.

Try running an online virus scan to make sure you dont have any virii

otherwise i recommend, for once, a reinstallation.

Find out how to get support for Microsoft apps and services.

got a nice thing from download.com, some cleanup utility. cleaned my registry, took out all the stupid crap on startup, deleted about 2 gigs of un-needed files, everything seems to be running alright for the time being. i reinstalled windows media too. if that uninstalls itself ill know that its about time to upgrade to XP (im still on Me)
