    Disney world hotel......

Does anyone know if the hotels in disney world have ethernet?
I am leaving tommorow for my senior class trip in Disney, we are staying at the All Star resort and I was wondering if it was worth bringing my laptop. if they dont have ethernet I probably wont bring it

Don't think any of the Allstars has it. But could have changed. However there are other reasons to have it with you if they apply to you

Downloading pictures off your camera card at night. And there are places to go for Wi Fi connections as well.

Here is one thing I found (think this is Orlando as it was listed as WDW:

    High-Speed Access with a Laptop

As of October 1, 2003, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort began offering high-speed Internet access in its guest rooms, at a charge of $4.95 per hour or $9.95 per 24 hour period. Within the next six months or so, all of Disney's convention hotels and Home-Away-From-Home/Disney Vacation Club resorts are scheduled to get high-speed Internet. The projected dates (subject to change) are:

    Yacht & Beach Club - November 4, 2003
    Contemporary Resort - December 2, 2003
    Grand Floridian - December 2, 2003
Boardwalk Inn and Villas - December 30, 2003
    Saratoga Springs Resort - January 30, 2004
Villas at Wilderness Lodge - February 27, 2004
    Old Key West - April 2, 2004
Disney now offers Wi-Fi (high speed wireless Internet access) in the public areas of its convention hotels. You will need a Wi-Fi enabled laptop computer or PDA to access the Internet from designated areas of each resort. Smart City is the provider and bills the guest using a secure credit card transaction via an on-screen Internet connection. Requires a wireless interface card (WIC), available for purchase in the resort's business center. $4.99 per hour or $9.95 for a 24-hour period.

    Locations for Disney's Wi-Fi access:

Grand Floridian - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Beach Pool
Contemporary - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Feature Pool
Yacht & Beach Club - Main Lobbies, Convention Center Hallway, Stormalong Bay Pool
Coronado Springs - Main Lobby, Convention Center Hallway, Feature Pool, Francisco's

Main thing is if its going to be a hassle to keep up with and all just go and have fun. See you online when you get back. Be safe.

You could always use a local dial up if you have a service like Earthlink. But remember each time you place a call from your room its like 75 cents. So you would want to stay connected and not set your computer to auto redial. Nor to auto shut off.

Nope, nope, and nope I just got back a few weeks ago, I stayed in the AllStar Music Resort. I went with my marching band and we go for a trip once a year last year we went to Ohio, and my friend brought his laptop. So he figured he'd bring it again and this time there was no internet connection . And all of those places that Phil listed are NO WHERE NEAR Allstar Resorts or the parks =\.

Oh yea some of them are. Contemporary is almost right in the park. Magic Kingdom as a matter of fact. The tram between Magic and Epcot travels right through it.... But indeed they are no where near any of the All Star resorts.

There are however some Wi Fi things outside the park/WDW property in the Villages. A few bars and restraunts and such.

I think if he wanted to use it to manage pictures then its something he would take. But unless he has dial up with a local number its just going to be a liability and something to worry about.

doh... your right... contemporary and grandfloridian are right near magic kingdom. Your right sorry Phil But even still I don't think you should bring the laptop just for internet usage, if you wanted to bring it for picture management thats a different story.

I don't know if they still do this but when I went, if you stay in one of the hotels then you get "front of the line" service. Basically they bring you to the front of the line for no damn waits.

                      That's a load of crap.

It costs enough as it is. Why should you have to wait longer.

Go to the big popular rides during the parades and fireworks. It was a long time ago, but I managed to do Space Mountain with a 10 minute wait when all during the day the bloddy line was all the way to the outside and then some.

The fast pass worked really well I thought. It allowed me to go get a spot for a ride then go back like 30 mins later. Only downside was they limited how many you could have within a certain time period (if memory serves me correct).

And if you do go to Disney World, its the best to stay in the park hotels. Round the clock rides to the park, loads of places to go, and just a fun environment to be around.
