Censorship in its most EXTREME form.

Ok, it starts off as a good (ha, ha) tuesday morning. I walk into my Computer Apps class, and the only thing I was thinking was, "man, i have to read that stupid book tonight."
So, in the few minutes before class started I figured i'd log on to PBR. Doo do do... Novell loads, etc etc. I go to PBR. Then, BAM! this little diddy comes up and says

    This webpage is not allowed.

I start freaking out and try AO. Same thing. Ok, well, that isn't that bad, i can live without AO and PBR for a little while, so i go to Ebay Motors and look at trucks. After about a hour of that, guess what pops up?

I think, "Darn!" and then i go to Google to get there translation software (AKA a way around it). Guess What? THEY BLOCKED FREAKING GOOGLE. At this point, a stream of curse words came out that should not be repeated on here. Ok, i'll get my self happy again with Homestar Runner...

Alas, poor Strongbad, i knew him well.

This is starting to get to the point of Insanity. Since we can't use Google now, all school research for projects is now dead. Im serioursly thinking of writing a letter to the school board, telling them this. PBR and AO, i might can understand. But GOOGLE??? WTF ARE THEY THINKING???? Wanna help me get AO and PBR back? go tohere, and (see where over on the side it says "URL Checker" click there") and ask them to reevaulaute PBR and AO. Explane to them how paintball is not Voilence and brutalliltaly, but promotes good sportmans ship and the like. Also, put in a good word for Google, too.

It's not censorship. Try arguing that to the school board and they'll be laughing at you for a looong time.

Do you really think you're going to get anywhere by complaining that you want to use the computers for something other than how the school wants you to use them? You're actually going to go to them, admit you are abusing your usage privileges, and expect them to see your point of view? Send me your PayPal address; I'll send you a quarter so you can buy a clue.

            ya.... proxify is great...

also altavista.com(about as good as google) has babblefish, works the same way as googles...

as well, as if they dont have it blocked, you can go to tools ->internet options->connections-> lan and goto the proxy settings at the bottem and use a external proxy server... that works as well...

my schools filter is ISP side(on an educational sat connection) and I can get to pretty much anything needed...

also, if your unix/linux savvy, and its not removed go ahead and telnet to your fav shell account and just run through lynx texual browser...
if its blocked, see if you can get to like, webattack.com and dl a new telnet client

If you always use the same computer, you could justy install a proxy server on it and go through that.

My school doesnt block AO, but it did block Google images, but it was kind of an on/off thing (one day it would block the other it wouldn't). Yeah, I've used megaproxy to get around it when I was looking for pics for a report. I think it's really stupid how they block google, but some kids would use it in a weird way at school, so they have a good reason.

Our school blocked almost everything. We had to build a website for computers and they blocked geocities, also any kind of email has been blocked, and the worst part is paintball.com is blocked under the catergory "weapons" and AO is blocked under "tasteles". The good thing is Geocities was finally unblocked last week because they need it for a project but everything else is still blocked.

I was the webmaster at our school and had administrative rights...Anything they ever blocked that I liked I would always unblock it. Then one time for the heck of it I blocked our own school homepage.... Got in trouble for that one..
