    Computer is being a moron.

Every once in awhile my computer decides to do this thing with menus. It makes all the options transparent and to see them I have to move my mouse over them. It looks extremely *crappy* and is very annoying when working on things. Eventually after about 3 or so weeks it will go away, only to show up about 2 months later. Just really stupid.

    Here's a couple screen shots:

three weeks?! i get that sometimes... then i drag a folder or something over it or open up another menu on it and it fixes. it may be your winxp theme you have there- go back to classic or origional blue xp and see if it still does it. if not, check for xp updates on microsoft.com. if none of that works, it may be a graphics card problem.
Yummy yummy yummy, I've got fun in my tummy.

I'd check to make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.

Sorry...I like to think I'm good with computers but I'm really not. How do I go about updating the drivers?

Yep, it's probably just low on system resources, that'll fix it.
