Last Friday, my dad fell ill. We all thought that it was just that virus that's been going around. He'd been throwing up and couldn't eat anything. Pretty soon, he could barely stand up. So my mom took him to the doctor this morning and they ran some tests. He has had a hernia for about a year now, and it hadn't caused much alarm. However, on friday what happened was he pulled it lifting some boxes and it became inflamed. Before long, it has swelled and was constricting tissue around it. Around 7:00 tonite, he went into surgery and had the Hernia, 6 inches of his small intestine, and a small patch of his stomach that had died. This scared the hell out of me. I mean, it was so out of the blue.
He's currently recovering and in a room. He will probably be there for about a week, just to be sure there are no problems.
After getting home, he probably won't be able to eat solid food for a month, or consume alcohol, or really anything that could agitate his stomach and intestine.
The hardest part though is the fact he is the sole owner and operator of his business. No one elese knows how to run things. So for a little bit, I may be winging it here.
My dad, and my family would really appriciate anyones prayers. He will be alright, but it will take alot of time and work and patience.
