K I know there are some people that know computers here. Well I have windows XP and recently most, if not all Windows programs won't work. Even in "safe mode" none of the programs are coming up. Netscape seems to work but outside of that not much else. Any ideas as to the culprite. The computer was bought last Xmas so it's relatively new. Any and all help is appreciated.

Use system restore or just pop the XP disc back in and reload the operating system. Scan for viruses first if you can.Originally posted by RoadDawgK I know there are some people that know computers here. You're not giving us much to go on here. Just telling a comptuer technition that something doesn't work is like just telling your mechaninc your engine isn't running right. What errors are showing up? Although if nothing is working properly, Tuna's advice will probably be the only thing that you can do.Comment

Well if I try to start up any microsoft applications: (EX:Word) IT freezes the computer up. If I try to burn pictures to a CD it freezes up. I've run several virus checks and have found nothing. I've updated the virus protection just last week, which was after the first incident. I've tried downloading the new patches for windows but everytime I try the whole system locks up. If I pop in the XP cd will it erase all my files? If so how can I save those files? Sorry I can't give much more info then that. I do get Script errors for Internet Explorer (don't even use I.E) for some clickspring URL and server busy pop up that asks me to retry or switch to. If I can think of more I'll post up again. Right now I'm off to work and don't have much time to explore the problems again.Sorry, I'm oldComment

Hmmmmm...... what sort of Virus protection are you using and how up to date is it. This could be caused by ALOT of problems. In this case I personaly would drop my preloaded windows drive in the machine and see if it behaves in the same manner...... most folks I know of dont cary anything like that soooo..... how about posting up that exact script err.... I wonder if you havent got something nasty residing on your machine If thats the case a simple reinstall may not be enough.
