I've had it up to HERE with spyware!

I am getting spyware/adaware/torjan horses/you name it, I got it. And I keep getting it. I ran Spybot and Adaware both YESTERDAY and I got back a lot of stuff. I dunno if it's the same stuff, but I'm getting a deluge of it! I think it's somewhere on my comp, cause I don't really go any sites that would have this kind of thing (that's right, no pornos) but anyway...
How can I get rid of it? Is there some software that will BLOCK all this stuff and not just remove it? I have Norton Antivirus 04 that I just got a couple weeks ago, but that's not doing the trick. I can't figure out what's going on. Please help!!!

ZoneAlarm is the best prog for outright blocking of Spy/Ad ware, I've used it for months and I can still run both Spybot AND Adaware and not find ANYTHING. I also use Norton AntiVirus in conjuntion, so there ain't no way my comp is goin down.

Lol, I used to think virus's and spyware wouldn't cause me any probs, but they killed my last comp, so I'm not taking any risks this time!

I'm getting popups when I'm not online...

is spyware/adware the stuff like popups that appear out of nowhere (even when your not online?) if so, just recently I got a whole load of that stuff. I don't know why, the only sites I browse are paintball and flash game websites... maybe my brother went to something? I don't know but its annoying and I don't want it anymore!

Flash game sites are the worst. That's all my brother ever visits, and I've had to reformat 3 computers that he's touched.

My advice: download AVG anti-virus and zonealarm firewall. They're both 100% free, and even after that devil known was my brother hit my laptop and desktop with those sites, I'm doing fine.

My rule of thumb is: if it gets a PG rating (porn or games), it's a likely source of adware.

if you buy adaware plus it has blocking and monitoring features.

                Ad-Aware Pro

Trust me. Ad-Aware from Lavasoft is the only way to go. You can get the scanner as a free download that you can run periodically but for a small charge you can get a memory resident scanner that will act like a spyware virus guard.

I recently got a few spyware/adware/trojans/etc...it ook 3 different programs, but I think I finallyt managed to rip out all of them except this occasional popup, and something called 'dumbsearching' or something like that. The worst was a toolbar called Birdclock.

Try HijackThis...it got some of the stuff Ad -Aware missed.

If crap still pops up, check your add/remove programs for programs that you didn't want on there. I had to go through AdAware, Spybot AND a manual sweep of my add/remove programs to nuke it all on one computer.

Look for names of programs that you don't know about. Worst thing you can do is uninstall a program that you can reinstall later.
