How is it? Heard it runs real bad on not so up to par systems..... whats everybodys take on it? Looks pretty badass. What about 1942? I never got to play that either...

Battlefield vietnam rules. The last game I was really into was 1942, and the desert combat mod for it. I have flashbacks to vietnam when I'm dozing off in class sometimes. It's that sweet. I have a sub-par system and vietnam runs okay. My graphics card is only 32 megs and it runs. The requirement is supposed to be 64. I have a radeon mobility something 7500 I think. Maybe 8something. Anyway, it runs fine if you just turn down the resolution. If you dont think vietnam will run then get 1942.
A good analogy I heard was: 1942 is to vietnam like gta3 is to vice city. Both are sweet games, one is sweeter though.Comment

Personally speaking, I prefer Battlefield 1942 to Battlefield Vietnam. While BFV's weapons are nicer, BF1942 seems to run smoother on my system. There are three kinds of people in the world: Those who can count, and those who can't.

Microsoft wouldn't have much to do with it...you'd have to E-mail Electronic Arts and goad us into doing it.Originally posted by Snowball1942 is the best game ever...i continue everyday to e-mail microsoft and have it put on the xbox system...i get no answers though..lol..but i try...1942 rocks and all the mods keep everything up to date...excellent game by far....

It's a nice game, but there is just too little there to warrent a full game release. The engine feels exactly the same as bf1942 (ho ho! it is!) and apart from some minor graphics changed and a different theatre of war, it adds nothing new.
What also irritates me are some of the hilarious balance desicions, should you be a soldier who gets an m16 + grenades, good enough for killing a bunch of people, or should you be the support guy, carrying an m60 AND a LAW. Anyone having not played vietname should understand that the m60 holds more bullets than the m16, has less recoil (in any position) and does more damage, the only downside being that after 100 rounds you have to take about 10 seconds more reloading. What's even better is that the Vietcong (or whatever you're supposed to call the other team) is almost vastly inferior as far as weaponry goes. Sure it's realistic, but it isn't fun.
Whining over, I do think it's rad that with vietnam much less emphasis is taken away from vehicular combat, and there being slightly more focus on infantry.

I play all the time, lots of matches with our clan. Great game. About the m60 problem....first off, I hate the thing. I love it when the other team uses them, too. I prefer a car15 or RPD over an m79 or law and m60 anyday. M60's are also great for me, since I'm our clan's main chopper pilot. The muzzle flash is a beacon. What pisses me off is how you get just as tight crosshairs running and jumping as you do laying down. While running, it should be quite large, like DC's heavy support. Lying down, it should still be tight.Comment

I've never played BF: Vietnam, but I had to stop playing Halo (despite the fact that I was REALLY good at it). After playing it for an hour or two, whenever I closed my eyes I would hear the whoooooooosh sound of a banshee and invision it either swooping down toawrds me and hearing the BEEP BEEP BEEP sound of my low armour, or being inside of it and getting shot and THEN hearing the BEEP BEEP BEEP sound, lol.Originally posted by gimphave flashbacks to vietnam when I'm dozing off in class sometimes.Originally Registered: 08-27-2001.

the cross hairs are supposed to also be considered in the update along with the kick of the 60
personally if im US i pick the car15 if im a gook i pick the AK47"The Few Who Do Are The Envy Of The Many Who Only Stand And Watch"
