Whoa, I read something about something similiar to this not too long ago. Im not to sure if ID trust it though. Id rather have a solid surface protecting my parts then some liquid, I guess its just a security issue.

      Nonetheless, it has massive potential.

You still use kevlar vests and body armor. You use the liquid armor in places that have to bend - places you cannot put normal body armor.

I was just talking about technology like this a few months ago in the chat room.

I was thinking of how if you take a balloon and fill it with salt, its soft and squishy, but when you smack it into something, it gets hard.

Or, if you take corn starch and mix it with water, it makes a watery paste, until you smack it with your hand, then it becomes hard.

I knew there had to be a way to turn that into some sort of flexible armor.

This could be really good, it looks like with this they may be able to develop a vest that would stop a knife and a projectile. Now you pick one or the other based on what you're doing. Very cool.

that would be an advantage over the present armor we use. It says right on it "this vest is not intended to stop a knife." And then something that says that it's meant to be used to stop 9mm submachine gun and lesser rounds. If this could stop blades and larger caliber rounds, it would really save a lot of lives. Now to figure out how to stop a .50 heavy machine gun round....

Ya, Something that could stop rifle rounds would be great. I think you'll be SOL on the .50 cal tho! I think the plate in a Lvl 4 vest can stop a 7.62mm, but those are pretty damn heavy, and will only stop one or so, I'm pretty sure they break upon impact.
