    Car Problem

Hey, my car is over heating a lot, I'll just be driving and then it will jump up to the red line. I checked the coolant and its where is should be. I don't know jack about cars so any help would be great. By the way its a 92 Civic with 231000+ miles

When was the last time you changed the thermostat?

Those two things would be what I would guess first. Fan cools the engine, while the thermostat regulates the engine based on temperature, and if thats not working you may overheat.

We actually changed the thermostat last summer, same thing was happening then. I don't know about the fan though. Thanks.

The fan motors in hondas tend to die. So that would definately be one of the things i'd check. And even though you replaced the thermo last summer i wouldn't eliminate that as a possibility.

                Possible problems:
                Radiator clogged (not likely)
                Thermostat not opening
                Radiator fan
                Head gasket
Bubbles in the lines (possible form leaky hoses or a bad head gasket)
                Cloged/leaky hoses (not likely)
                .

Start your car, open the hood and watch to see if the fan turns on before it overheats, if it doesn't you could have a number of problems (bad wireing, computer problems, fan sensor not working right). If it turns on its probably the thermostat, although it could be a clog.
