Place with good deals on rims/tires ...

Anyone got any links to places online that have good deals on rim/tire combos? I am looking for 17" rims for my Jetta and have found allot of styles I like, but Im trying to find places that online have package deals ...

Checked out tirerack.com but they dont do package deals ... anyone know of any others?

Why do you want bigger tires? It slows the car down

Honestly I was under the impression that 17's were better than 15's for traction ... be more than happy to hear another persons take on that one.

I have no intention to rice this car ... looking more for better on the road performance in terms of grip and handling. If you have advice to hand out then please do, I dont take to well to sarcasm myself ....

Think about the physics. All a larger tire does is take longer to make a revolution.

A wider tire has more ground contact, so more traction. What does the car some with stock?

Also tread type has a lot to do with traction. What kind of traction are you looking for? Snow traction? Wet-weather traction? Dry-ground traction? Mud? All-around?

For a Jetta I don't see why you'd need large tires, you aren't getting so much power you have to worry about that much. You wouldn't need to go over 200. You prolly have 185s right now. Maybe 195s if its the 1.8T. I'm just guessing off the top of my head.

Are you having traction issues? If your car is sliding in rain/etc look for a tire with a better tread, not necessarily a wider one. Unless you are racing or doing some mods to your car or something I doubt you'd need to go to wider tires.

But hey, feel free to do what you want, its your car Not all mods have to be 100% functional.

Have you ever checked out the vortex?

They have a marketplace full of used parts including a for-sale forum dedicated to wheels and tires only.

You can get incredible deals there...

If you are looking for something inexpensive...I would look into some of the stock 17in. wheels that come on the Jetta GLI and the GTi VR6-1.8T
