How can I get more perforance out of my video card?

Like the title says; what can I do about it?

I have a 128 meg geforce, and a friend has an 8 meg something-or-another, but gets more performance playing CS. Granted, I dont play it anymore, but when playing pretty much any new game I feel like im not getting the smooth animations that I should be. Any ideas, or settings that need to be changed?

What kind of geforce? 128mb, it could be a GF3, GF4, GF-FX, etc....
what kind is it?

use google and find rivatuner.
once u have that, and know exactly what card u have, we can go from there.

I would say to download the newest drivers, but depending on the model, sometimes older one are better.

I believe its like, the lowest in the geforce line... but still, games like morrowind should run smoothly. Ill check when I get home.
