I have two guns I use for carry, one is a Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special in .45acp. The other is an HK USP compact in .40SW.

Both are usually carried in a waistband rig, in cold weather in a jackass shoulder holster with 2 mags on the offside.

She is a little heavy...and hard to conceal. But head shots at 75 yrds are the norm. This pistol came with 2 Factory 15 round clips...so 15+1. Wont ever rust either, so it's great for an Anti- Piracy weapon. My Damn Damn

Nice one Tuna. Can't go wrong with a Taurus.

Tuna, you scoped a NINE? That's like a Warp on a Talon

Loud Tim, many people prefer the Taurus for their 1980's revamping of all their machining equipment. They went from 1920 to this century almost overnight, and their quality skyrocketed. The PT-92 is also preferred over the Beretta due to it's frame mounted safety (ala M1911/A1), rather than the frightening hammer drop, slide mounted safety. The would be the only reason for me to ever buy a 9mm, would be just that.

(short story about a Taurus and hot handloads: My brother bought a Taurus .357 in 1989. At the time I was aware of Taurus retooling their factory, but hey...it was Taurus after all. Cheap copies of everything Smith & Wesson, with poor construction and lousy workmanship.

My bro was at my house while I was handloading hot rounds for my Dan Wesson [heavy on the strong, quality build], using 125gr bullets atop max loads of Bullseye [Bullseye is a very fast buring powder, which creates pressures faster and higher than most other powders]. He asked if he could load a few for his gun, I said sure, since he had proved in the past to know what he was doing. Well, he loaded 158gr bullets with my hot loads. This created a load that is best left to laboratories and proof houses. When we got to the range, my bro touched off just ONE of these bombs, spraying me 20ft away with a huge amount of lead shaved from the forcing cone and blasted out the cylinder gap. Bro had a really stupified look on his face, and I knew immediatly what happened. We had to force out the cylinder with a wood mallet, and drive out what was left of the case with a dowel and the mallet. BUT, except for a little scoring inside that one chamber, the gun was perfectly fine and still in tune. Taurus has a free lifetime warranty, even if YOU did your best to blow yourself up, but as the gun was OK, my bro felt no need for any repairs. This incident made me an instant modern Taurus fan, and I will recommend their products anytime.)

a good friend of mine is an excellent pistolsmith. He does not suggest stock kimbers. There are some very good stock kimbers out there, but there also have been quite a few that have problems loading the round into the chamber and also extracting them from the chamber. Their external extractor is also not a good thing to have. I will tell you why from my friends experience with his brand new kimber team match 2 with an external extractor. First thing is the extractor was not extracting factory ammo or reloads, it needed to be tuned to .45 acp ammo. Then next thing is what happened when a double load was fired. Just for all you who don't know what a double load is, it when there is twice as much powder as there should be. Also guns should be able to handle a double load without catastrophic failure. to make a long story short the slide was cracked along the extractor channel and the external extractor was launched from the gun into the guy next to him who happened to be his father. No one got hurt just a few people shook up and one gun that needed a new slide and extractor system. So i would stay away from any kimber with an external extractor.

Glocks, aka tupperware, tend to be good reliable guns but their stock barrels bulge brass if you reload ammunition. But you can't beat the feelings of shooting a 1911. Except maybe a nice revolver.

Oh...Im supposed to have a permit? But why when they give a note with Texas birth certificates saying, "Automatic Texas Right: Can conceal pistol at age when able to make a nice grouping."? Must be a Texas thing...

Tuna, why in Gods name would you scope a nine? You just whip it out on a poor, unsuspecting robber and scare them to death before you shoot? Two things will run through their head, "I can stay here with the stuff I took...and get shot. Or or or I can run with the stuff really really fast, about 100 yds...wait he has a scope...and get shot . Maybe I should of taken up a hobby like paintball instead of stealing?"

You better not show that to a liberal, they might mistaken it for a scary assault weapon.

mildly intresting story. at my union meeting this past saturday one of the officers stood up and said that if people keep voting to protect guns and not jobs you wont be able to afford guns. there was quite a bit of applause. i stood up and said if you keep voting to get rid of guns i wont be able to buy one regardless of my job. only two people clapped for me. such is life in the union. im not real well liked when politics are discussed at my hall.

so rooster if there was a nationwide vote that forced all states to allow another states ccw as well as another states gay marriage would you vote for that? im just curious to see if you hate gay marriage more than you love ccw. for the record, i would for for it as i love ccw and could care less about gay marriage.
