    Need Some Bass Amp Help!!!!

Alright guys I need some advice from the AO Guitar gueroos (sp?). I'm now looking for a new bass amp but cannot decide which one to get. I'm mainly looking for something more along the lines of a practice amp but still something that i can jam with along with drums and another guitar that isn't gonna kill the bank account(still gotta have cash for a computer and paintball). There's 3 that I'm looking at, just can't decide which to get.

    1)Fender Rumble 100 Bass Combo http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/480721/

    2)YORKVILLE XM100C
We're committed to spreading the enjoyment of music-making. We focus on music labs and percussion products for group instruction as well as music & sound equipment for Churches, Worship Organizations and Government Institutions.

I haven't been able to play one yet and don't have much experience with yorkville products and can't find many reviews on i. It basically has all the same features as the rumble besides the horn and the flashing lights. I'm just interested to see if it is a higher quality amp than the fender.

    3)BX1200 Ultrabass 120W 1x12 Combo
    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/480675/
I was originally going to buy this but then they raised the prices by $30 so I'm thinking I should just spend some extra cash to get something with a biger speaker. I do like the way it sounds and am not completely eliminating it as a posibility though.

So what do you guys think?

    Hey brandon,

Okay, let me get one thing off my chest, don't go with the Yorkville, I have had nothing but bad experiences with them. Now, that aside, the Fender is an alright amp, in my experiences, they make either REALLY good amps, or REALLY bad/cheap amps. But, Im not sure of this one, I havent played wiht this certain model. Okay, The Behringer is a good amp. They make real good quality stuff. The great thing about them, is their stuff is VERY reasonably priced, while still having very good quality. If I was to pick one, I would say the Behringer is the way to go...

With that be said, may I give my $.02 about amps. Okay, I play through a Laney BC-120, which is one of my favorite amps, its just gets a full sound, at a very reasonable price. They are based in Britian, and they are all handmade(I believe they still are...). Another brand I would look out for, is SWR. SWR makes REALLY nice stuff. You can get a nice amp that you can jack around with for a real good price. A friend of mine has an SWR, and i just love it. Another amp brand that I back all the way is Musicman, you could find a used MusicanMan for a real good price. I just plain love them, I play through a RD112-100, and its my main amp, I love it.

One thing to look out for, or at least i do in bass amps, is a good equalizer. With the bass, getting that right sound is just sooo important(at least to me). Just a standard "LOW-MED-HI" E.Q. can do the trick, but I like a little extra, like Compressor, and maybe a few HI/LO switches, etc.

Now, I usually buy my equipment used, be it because I mostly buy older stuff, or that I can get a better deal. I would check out used stores, and ebay. Pawn shops, and what not are a good way. But, the best way is, of course, Guitar Center. But, that is just my way, because I can usually talk them down, or get them to throw some stuff in with the deal.

Well, I think im done with my little rant. Man, you just had to bring up buying guitar stuff didint you? haha Well, Good luck wiht buyin you amp.

    Alex

what's going on man. i knew you'd be here to give me some much needed advice. I know what ya mean about finding used stuff but i can't find jack it seems., been looking everywhere and keep coming up empty. I'm not too into buying off ebay since i don't wanna buy something and have it be all messed up and it's not something like a pb gun that i can fix. I still can't decide whether or not the behringer is going to be loud enough even though it's 20watts bigger. thanks again man.

I currently own that exact Behringer and it is well worth the money and more, my pick would be the Behringer. I string up my Ibanez axe with some blue steels, turn the high down, low up, and let the good times roll...

thanks again for the input. Do oyou find the behringer loud enough to be heard over drums and guitar.

Thanks again for the infi guys. based off of alex's past experience's with yorkville amps i think i'm going to toss that idea out. after looking around a bit i found some deals on ashdown combos but don't have any experience with them but the prices sound decent but maybe a bit too good to be true, i dunno. Mainly looking at the Electric Blue 15-180 Combo. any comments?

I think ive played through an Ashdown guitar amp, and it sounded pretty good man. Ive never played through their bass amps but if theyre anything like that guitar amps, they would probably be a pretty good buy. Have you tryed one out? If not, I suggest you head down to a guitar center. There are plenty in washington, the best in my opinion is the one in Kirkland, just so you know. I know what you mean about not findin anything, it happens to me all the time. Well, again, good luck.

hey, thanks again man. yeah, i;ll have ti check out the kirkland GC since i;ve never seen ashdown bass amps at the seattle or southcenter store. based off the reviews of them at the talkbass forums they're an awsome little combo for the price not mention being able to hook an extention cab up to them. now it's just a matter of finding one to play.

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! Before you considering ANYTHING! Check oot http://www.carvin.com they have GREAT prices and great products. They sell factory direct so an amp from them costing 400 would be like getting an 800 dollar fender ;-)

You should go to each gun manufacturers forum or call them up. Ask the OWNER of the company why his gun is better. When you get your answers come back here and tell us what they said.

You should buy my gun because I have 5000 posts that say I care.

AH the choices!!! Thanks for mentioning carvins, i diddn't expect them to be in my price range. Now i gotta decide between the Carvin - PB100-15 and the Ashdown Electric Blue 15-180. i really need to track these down so i can actually hear them. the carvin is about 80watts less powerful than the ashdown but it does have a few more options as far as tuning sound and i like the fact that you can runa 8ohm extension cab out of the kine out where the ashdown only has a 4 ohm line out. te only downsides to the carvins that i've read are that they aren't quite as loud as you'd expect and that the speaker has trouble handeling louder volumes as well as some have had trouble with blowing fuses. man, why must i be so indecisive.

i did look into peaveys but with the amount of wattage i can get for the money with the ashdown or carvin i would have to spend at least another $75-100 to get anywhere near what the others have and right now that extra money is going towards my new mag.

I have a used Cyclops Carvin, it has a better head than the PB you're looking into BUT! it sounds great! Unfortunetly I got it really used and the speakers are dying. Where do you live? Carvin only really has stores in California.

Personally, I would recommend trying EVERYTHING before buying, you never know what you're gonna get.
