adware/spyware is the bane of my existence..

i've tried EVERYTHING in the known world to try to get rid of this adware/spyware. you know when they want you to download spyware or something there is a little prompt that asks you to trust 'whatever inc' so it can download? i accidentally clicked yes, and my computer is FILLED with this crap now, ruining my computer experience. the only program that can identify all of these programs is a thing called bazooka, but it only detects, and then tells me how to delete it manually (from my registry and that crap), which i am not only scared of doing, but it takes roughly a half hour to do for each program, and its detected over half a dozen. does anyone know a spyware/adware program that they KNOW works?

adaware doesnt work, and neither does sypbot: search and destroy. now im using 'spy cleaner' trial version and seeing if itll work. ill probably spend the rest of the day downloading different programs from download.com until i can finally sift through all of my spyware. if you would like to spare me from that, please help and give me a good program that helps you

Some of those programs are apparently trojans, and will be picked up by norton (or any virus scan program). I recently removed 6 from my brother's computer, all caught by norton. When I looked up what they did they were all spyware.

i have ad-aware 6.0, spybot search and destory, spyware blaster, and webroot spysweeper. i bought spy sweeper for 50$ in a store, and it removes the spyware instead of just detecting them. my computer has been running extremely clean, with all the shields and stuff on. i also have the google pop-up blocker, with really makes using the internet alot better, because i dont have annoying pop ups coming up every five seconds. i run them atleast 3 times every week, and they always find atleast one thing. you still have to do some stuff though. go into run from the start menu, and type in "msconfig". then go to the startup tab. pick out what looks like viruses, or everything but the bare bones of what you're computer needs to start up. then delete them from the program files folder on you're computer.

My question is, when are we going to hit Congress up about making this crap illegal? It's like a salesman moving into your house and harassing you whenever he damn well pleases.

            Agreed.

Yet really, would most of these morons really stop? No....

Ok, worst case scenario for your spyware problem:

            Backup ALL files
            Dowload drivers, etc.
Do a clean install of your OS

i used to get adult spyware (like xxx crap cprapity crap), then i wrote to them as a "concerend mother" saying that my boy little jon saw these images, and he is only 7....and if they dont stop them and give me a prgram to uninstall it, i will come after them for providing pornography to a minor

worked great, and this program, (which i usually use on staart up, but still have no clue wtf it actually is) blocks all the spyware it can find, FOR FREE

and they said threats never work

spybot to remove spyware already on

                spyblaster to keep it off

its important to update both of these just like your antivirus

UGH! I did the exact same thing! I was trying to play some flash game, and this thing popped up saying I need to install some program. I didn't realize the game was still loading and that it was just a trick, and so I clicked "yes". Once it came up I stopped the download, but now my computer is riddled with garbage. I ran ad-aware and it found 292 FILES!! I've run spybot search and destroy and adware a few times since (all within 2 days), and they keep finding files (like 1-20 each time)! It's like the remaining spyware goes out finding more spyware to download, or creates new spyware.... like a virus... but then my anti-virus program doesn't find anything either.

brak all the spyware things you mentioned only take them off it doesnt offer you protection from more getting on.

                        spyblaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html
will keep them from getting on your computer.

since i have been running and using spyblaster i have not had any spyware on my computer.

the important thing to do is keep it updated. its just like your a virus, people come out with new ones all the time

                        hope this helps
