    Poison IVY

well I dunno why, I was told my skin isn't receptive to whatever is it that causes poison ivy rashes so in 25 years I've never had a poison ivy rash. Then last weekend we went biking in the woods on some sorta trail and I sliped and caught a few cuts on my angle and bam instant poison ivy rash. I promise I won't make fun of ppl for getting into poison ivy ever again if you can just make this STOP it burns!

I never used to get it when I was a kid. Now all I have to do is brush up against it and I get crazy rashes. It sucks.

calamine lotion is supposed to relieve it. also try taking benadryl, cortisone cream or any other antihistamine. since it's caused by an allergic reaction antihistamines will stop the itching and rash.

It affected you because the oil got directly into your bloodstream through the cuts

see that's what I think too. Because it's only within a 1/2 of where I had cuts. And I had a good patch of them too. I think it will go away quickly though, it hasn't spread, I have enough self control to NOT scratch it my skin typically heals very quickly and I get alot of sun that should dry it out. But it does look gross though.

I was just amazed that I even got it. I almost never have problems with sting weed, poison ivy and other plants like that.

I'm the same way. I have fallen down and rolled around in a huge patch of that stuff before and nothing happened. I always get into it and nothing happens to me. It is so great

I was talking to this park ranger one time, and he said in order for him to become immune to the oils, he would eat a small litle bit of the plant every day. Kinda weird, but it works i guess

Yeah, so then you get a rash in your throat. That's real smart

COLD WATER, never rinse with hot water, opens your pores and causes it to spread. Rinse with cold water. This means holding your leg outta the shower, or take a cold shower.

it kinda makes sense. I remember someone, I think it was my dad, telling me to make horses immune to snake bites they give them small doses of venom so their body can build up an immunity to it.

I know a guy who broke up with this girlfriend over Poison Ivy in college.

He came home from paintball with a wierd rash on a lot of his torso and hands (we were city boys, had never seen PI before). His girlfriend was... um.. "in season", and they said damn the torpedo's (rash), let's ****.

She got poison ivy bad, but invisibly (I'm trying to be delicate)

She got so pissed at him they broke up within a couple days.
