I wanted to post this a month before I was to leave, but things always came up, school got busy, and I'm finally making time.
In one week from this posting, I will be headed to Germany on an all expenses paid trip to Germany.
It was either in December or January, I don't remember when, but I signed up with my German teacher to take a German proficiency exam sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German. When the scores came back, I found out I had scored in the 97th percentile, and was eligible to apply for a 3 week exchange/study trip to Germany. Having already been in the process of another one that I felt confident in, I originally wasn't going to fill out the application, however, due to the persistence of my mom and last second almost-afterthoughts, I filled out the applications, and did the mini-essays and overnighted it just before the deadline.
Then in the beginning of March I heard back from them that I was selected for an interview, and completed that, shortly thereafter I was informed that I was chosen for the candidate for the chapter I fall under.
Mid-March came, and I found out that I was no longer being considered for the other program I had applied for due to some emotional problems. I was so glad I had applied for the second one. Less than a week later, I get a big envelope in the mail, tore it open, and sat down to read..... That I had been selected as one of 39 people to go on the 3 week exchange. Woohoo!
That was a brief synopsis of my story.
Now it has come down to one week before I leave. I'll be staying mostly in Erlangen, a town near Nuremberg, but will also be going to Munich for a day or two, and a 5 day trip to Berlin.
Not really sure what else to say. I'll most likely make a big picture post when I get back, and I may also be able to check back here while I am there. Unfortunately I don't think I be able to play paintball.
I get back July 16th, and hope to be able to make it to IAO, but everything after I get back is still up in the air.
That's all for now. Not the greatest post, but I'm still kind of busy. Supposed to be studying for my History final. I'm still in school. :-\
