I want to get an awesome computer

SO............... I have about 450-500 dollars to spend on a new computer and i want an awesome one that could run farcry and city of heros all the big games. I find one at tiger direct for 460 and here are the specs....Specifications

You have onboard video, that's horrible.

If you want something that's going to run farcry, you're gonna be spending about 400ish more.

Hold off for about a month and see if you still want it, I did the same thing, but found something better to spend my $$ on. Although sometimes I do wish I had a good computer

I think for farcry you want a minimum of 512 ram. Also, are you getting a graphics card apart from the system?

You'll probably want at minimum an ATI Radeon 9800 128mb 256-bit Pro for video card, 512 minumum for farcry, 1024mb is better.

yea man, for something that is gonna run farcry you are gonna need to spend about 700ish. I just recently built an athlon xp 2500+ overclocked to 3200+ (thats kind of a weak overclock but my processor is locked...), 512(2x256 mb modules) ram in dual channel, with an ati radeon 9800 pro 128 mb, and it can run farcry really nice at medium details. I got all my stuff from Newegg too, they are the best site out there. Also...if you can find any way to get windows xp professional that'd be a much better choice...because windows xp home is the diet soda version of professional.

The computer i was looking at from tiger is that any good than, I can live with out farcry I'd just like a comput that i can do some video/pic editing on and still play some sweet games. The computer im using is pretty awesome and its at my mom its just every other week i go to my dads and he has a blue light specail(for real im not kiding).

How hard is it to make your own computer? My dads friend done it a few times.

its not really that great, that case is a raidmax with a cheap-o generic power supply, motherboard is probably something using an SIS or VIA chipset...I wouldn't recommend, its just gonna cause problems, do a little research on some tech forums to see what is good and what isn't, then make the decision from there. The best way to do it is to build it yourself that way you can put whatever you want in it. I would recommend www.amdmb.com, some useful information, and the guys in the forum know a lot. To build mine, it took about an hour to put everything together, and then about a day of tweaking to get it running perfectly the way I like it.

Well, you'll need a
1.Motherboard
2.Processor
3.Ram
4.Hard Drive
5.Power Supply
6.Case+Fans
7.Video Card
8.Speakers
9.Monitor
10.Keyboard+Mouse
and then a sound card if you choose to not use onboard sound. For power supplies I would recommend a good name brand one above 400w, like the thermaltake silent purepower 480, or an Antec True Power 430 and up, or Sparkle of Fortron Source one above 400w. For processors, there really isnt an reason to not get at least an XP2500+, because the cost like $80 and are good performers, the rest of the stuff depends on the motherboard basically. Make sure that the case you get has spots for several fans, you want to have good airflow in your case so that your stuff stays cool, that way it lasts longer and doesn't break.
