    View -> Toolbars

    Just unclick the ones you don't want.

        Rebooting is always a good idea. Did you try Adaware? It's a good start.

                    Slight threadjack but sort of related does anyone know how to add a quick link to the taskbar? The one I want to add is "show desktop"...I had it when I originally installed but deleted it along with the others that come up but now have found it could be useful. Minimising open windows works but is a pain.
                    I have done the right click toolbars and the properties etc but can't get it to show.

                      open up notepad and type the following

                      [Shell]
                      Command=2
                      IconFile=explorer.exe,3
                      [Taskbar]
                      Command=ToggleDesktop

                      Save the new file as Show Desktop.scf then drag and drop the icon on the Quick Launch bar or whatever location you want the shortcut to appear.

                      its easiest to just save it too you desktop and then just drop in in the quick launch

                        OK I did that but I don't have the option to save to the desktop...got around that by dragging to the desktop but I still couldn't get it to sit on the taskbar...the right icon I wanted and the right process but not in the right place, If I use the taskbar selection for a new process it only shows the words desktop and then if you use it you get the programs list..not what I want. I'm sure what you have told me is very close to what I want but I am missing one step I think.

                          is you taskbar unlocked or locked? if its locked unlock it(do this by right clicking on it)

                          and just so we are on the same page you are trying to add a quicklaunch icon correct
                          which is located right next to the start button?
