Okay, I suggest you dont buy the Mark Hoppus, it is cheaply made and very bland, similar to the music(sorry, i had to). I didnt know that Dirnt had a signature. But this is what i sugges you to do, Dont buy a signature or and artist's series. I have never had luck with signature guitars. But that is just my opinion.

How much are you cash are you thinkin bout?

I suggest you dont buy the Mark hoppus one, its a very cheaply made bass, it just doesnt feel right to me, but thats just me. I dont know aobut the mike dirnt one, but I probably wouldnt buy it.

I myself HATE signature series guitars and basses. I just think they are kind of a gimmick, and they are sold for the name.

For an all around good bass, I say a USA Fender bass, I like Jazz basses. You can buy like a custom shop, or something like that, theyre awesome. Or buy a regular Amrican Fender, and then just upgrade the stuff.

I wouldnt go with either. But then I've never been a big fan of anything Peavy. If you were going dirt cheap maybe but with the money your talking you got alot better choices. The Fender USA series are nice but most of the time they are gonna hit above 800 bucks usually closer to 950-1100. Yes there are some below that but they are pretty plain jane as far as wood and hardware goes. If you were gonna spend that kind of cash I would say get a Music man Stingray. Thats what I play and they rock. The Ibanez sound gear series has alot of choices in all price ranges. They sit pretty comfortably the necks are flat and wide compared to the more c shaped fender necks. But thats all preference. The advice I always give is to head down to the music stores and play a bunch of them side by side. Try and use an amp like you have at home. And I always sprung for the hard shell case. Gig bags are ok until its 4 in the morning and you put your bass in back of the truck then someone throws a 4x10 cab on it breaking the neck. Just my 2 cents
You can go a long way with a smile. You can go a lot farther with a smile and a gun.

I really like the Fender Jazz bass the our bassist uses, even though we play rock. It's a great all around bass, and feels great.

well im going to have to go with the FENDER Mike Dirnt bass or a gibson G-3 (dirnts other bass) with the bass used by the best bass guitar player ever, how can you go wrong? if you realy want a pimpin bass get the jaco pastorious bass, its sweet! as for me i play a '72 guild M-85 and am saving for the dirnt bass. just my 2 cents

ps. green day RULES and i just saw them last night!

                            been playin' a long time,

every respectable player has atleast one fender p-bass.

if you've already got one, try a fender jazz.

don't waste money on the peavey.

I don't know if you're just starting, but by the sounds of it I can kind of assume you are?

Personally I'd recommend an Ibanez GSR200. My experiences with one never failed to be extremely satisfying.

If not that, then I would also just continue to reinforce the recommendations of quite a few people before me - Fender Standard Jazz Bass. Very versitile tone, don't let the name fool you. It's not soley for jazz. Or a P-Bass. Can't go wrong and if you decide that bass isn't your thing, then you can always get some of your investment back.

(Myself I play a Lakland Skyline 44-01 4-string... kind of resembles a Fender Jazz but better as far as I'm concerned. I just don't know if you want to drop $700 on a first instrument, otherwise I'd recommend that.)
So you've got an E-Mag, Warpfeed, LX, and a complete set of barrels. You can shoot a steady 13 bps and bunker me like it's no problem...

But do you know where your towel is?
