    hey, fred...
i am only 15. and you are all right, the women here are so fine!!!! they are all the women that dress to impress! i would say abut 75% of them are hott. it is quite nice. just about any one can pull it off here. evn 50 year olds like you said. today i visited the vatican (4 miles of hall ways) it was very cool. the only part i didnt like was that you had to wear pants, and i am not all that big with pants, i am a shorts kinda guy. but o well.

I mean, heck, just when im in Baja, I cant bring myself to go on a computer when there is so much NOTHING to do!

anyway, sounds like your having fun! make sure to take a lot of pictures so we may have a sense of what you did...

The Vatican Museum is a total NIGHTMARE!

Worst day in Rome EVER is when you're hiking through that musty warren... only to find yourself in the cool, (totally SWEET!) Cistine Chapel, in which you cannot take pictures...

St. Peter's is AWESOME though. just don't try getting in with a swiss army knife in your backpack...

If your 15 they wouldn't say anything if you ordered a glass of wine with your dinner. In Florence ask your parents for a glass if they get a bottle somewhere. Dinners at like 9pm anyway and you go to bed afterwards probably. Just to sample a taste of Italian wine, not get drunk. If you can get a taste of a dessert wine its even better.
Unless your lucky enough to be returning in a few years.

But yeah, as Fred said. If you want a leather coat, have your money in Florence. And haggle. Maybe buy a few sizes bigger to grow into and have for a awile if your still growing. If you are staying a few days, find a shop you like and look. Return the next day and lowball and find a middle price around 1/2 of the sticker price. Hopefully the same employee/manager will be there to work on. If CA is too hot for big leather coats a simple leather belt or two is good for show too. Or shoes if so inclined.

It is different in Italy. Its like 'the land feminism forgot', but not really. As a culture the men worship female beauty and the women have accepted the role rather than fight it. Stareing and oogling and whistling are common. But so is family virtue and honor. So its better to admire than to try and 'sample the goods'. Unless you can handle yourself against the men of the family.

This is just my take on it. I'm no expert, nor do I play one on TV

have you noticed yet that all of the italian guys.... appear to be flamboyantly gay? I mean jeez! Their pants must be painted on, and they must not have genitals, because thereisnt any room what so ever in those pants!

Also, all the tight skimpy shirts and the horrible hairdoos, how many of those odd fake mohawl things have you seen yet? and fly glases? you know, the things that make you look ya got bug eyes?

Man i swear the conuntry is flamboyant

also, we thought everyone was gay the first few days, because of the rainbow PACE flags, then we realized it is their version of the Peace sign.

Florence is the place to get leather, but get it from a shop, there are alot fo good fakers in the streats of florence.

Also, beware of cheep roadway stuff to buy. When i was there the rade was these dancing paper cut outs. Dont Buy Them. All it is is a piece of paper tied to a string, they rig it tho, so it doesnt look like it is on the string, but trust me it is. about 10-20 feet down from the seller, will be a guy with his hand behind hisd back, looking like he is relaxing on the wall, he isnt, he is the controler.

And those stressballs that you can make little figures out of, break 5 minutes after you buy them. Aboout 5 kids got suckered into buying em when we were there, and within 5 minutes, it was a broken baloon and flour fight.

The forum is impressive isnt it? as is the colleseum.

Vatican was cool, but the sistine chapel dissapointed me with the no photography what so ever rule.

also, i was disapointed that most of the roman artwork that i really wanted to see, isnt on display. Like the famous statue of Agustus Octavian. Oh well

Venice was alot of fun, we cruised around, did the gondola thing, and we just walked, getting lost, but finding our way back without much trouble. WATCH OUT FOR GYPSIES!!!!

public transportation any where is not your friend, nor is walking in the streets. We had a few of us marked out, my self included, but being defensive provided us with saftey.

                      HAVE FUN MAN!

Oh yeah... be VERY careful about gypsies... especially the ones with kids running around... their sole purpose in life is to relieve tourists of the contents of their pockets...

                        Pockets with buttons are good.

Money-bag under your shirt is good.

keeping it DEEP in your backpack is good...

anywhere where you don't feel it touching your body... or can get to it in seconds, bad...

look for internet cafes called "Internet Train" or something like that, the logo is orange. they're quite cheap and have broadband.

Hehe, when I was in Venice we ate dinner at this little Chinese restaurant and an Indian restaurant. The only night I had a pizza it had tuna on it. Needless to say I didn't eat the whole pizza.

But yeah, the gypsies/beggars were the most concentrated in Venice.

The neatest thing was we hit Pisa right on the day every year they have this reenactment of a medievil town battle. It was a good local event versus all the tourist crap you run into over the summer.

Most definately the local beach 'scenery' is very nice. The ones sunning on isolated rocks away from the beach wear the least clothing. Just a heads up. =]
