Headphones. NEVER AGAIN will i put less then 100$ on my ears

ok first of... sony sucks. panasonic has been disapointing to. sure there goodheadphones but for an audiophile like me i have finally hit paydirt gold jackpot! w.e you may call it i dont care... as i now have a pair of Pioneer hdj-1000's and I HEAR EVERYTHING! these things are so incredibly clear, crisp, loud, comfy, and BASS! its insane these by far blow away anything i have ever used ever before in my life!!!!

woo had to get that out

anyways so what kind of headphones do you AO'ers use? i researched for a few days before deciding on the pioneers... do you think i made a wise investment? either way im happy!

If you want to spend money on good headphones, go ahead. I prefer the Bose line though, but Pioneer makes some quality stuff. I have used a pair of cheapos from Comp USA for like 2 years, but they only have moderate sound quality. I guess thats good for cheapos though.

It all really depends on how you are going to use them.

heres a pick of mine.. and i payed 124$ plus 5$ shipping at the cheapest place i could find them wich was www.beachaudio.com

but yeah i used the cheapo 20-50$ range ones for a long time but i could never get bass and higher pitched sounds and a crisp clear sound like i wanted out of them and these far exceeded my expectations

Pioneer makes good stuff, but I have alwyas been a Sennheiser man. I use a pair of sennheiser when mixing tracks because they give me an all around true sound, but when im recording guitar, bass, vocals, etc, i like the freedom, so i got a pair of Advent wireless. I have a pair of portable Senns for when im just using my portable cd, the best portable headphones ever.

Sennheisers are amazing. Those pioneers are as well. Can't go wrong with either one.

I use Sennehiser HD 560s, which are amazing. The top end headphone companies are Sennheiser, Stax, Grado, and entymonic research. If you really want to hear amazing, hook one of those up to a Headroom headphone amplifier. Its a well-established fact that the output sections on most headphone amps (such as the one in a cd player or home received) do not put out anywhere near enough power to drive a good set of headphones, which are not as efficient as the crappy "bud" earphones usually supplied with such equipment. The Headroom amps supply enough juice to the headphones to really make them sing, especially during bass transients, which are easily the most power hungry parts of any song.

Once you hear a good set of headphones, you'll never want to take them off.

Sennheiser HD25 SP or HD 25 the Pioneers are too flimsy, plus everything on the Sennheiser can be bought as a spare part.

well i mainly listen to music on my computer... i run a hercules game theatre xp external soundriver and the maximum input power on my headphones is 3,500mW not sure if this helps... but do you think i should get an amplifier? i mean right now the bass is a little scratchy but i still have to mess with the equalizer a little more... how much do these amplifiers cost if i could use one? links to sites? ive never heard of these so please a little more info is greatly appreciated

My Sony MDR-7506 were very nice (Professional Studio) but the right channel died after 6-7 years of use and abuse...

Borrowing some other professional studio headphones from my dad, they suck with high and low notes, hope to get some HD590's eventually :o Or jack them from my brother... or dad...

The phones I'm using now are AKG - K-240's

Along with a soundblaster audigy 2 ZS... I'm very happy

I use Sennehiser HD 280 Pros. I might have gone for Sony or Grado, but my senns block out a beasty amount of noise. I wanted noise reduction for loud drumming gigs, but everything from mowing the lawn to taking a flight has become quiet and musical ever since I got them. Amazing sound quality, and it only seems to get better the more I use them. I've heard people talk about "burning in" headphones, and I think I might agree with their opinions.
