    Verizon or Sprint?!?!?!?!?

I just want to know what cell service you guys mostly use. I'll explain my interest in a day or two. And my preference.

    I've had both.

I hate Verizon, their support is terrible and I hit tons of deadspots.

I love Sprint, I have had ZERO problems and I almost ALWAYS have service no matter where I go. Even with one bar the conversations are clear with no static or loss.

Agreed, though I think Verizon has a larger coverage area overall, particularly through backwater communities, but the call quality is rarely very good or consistent. With Sprint (which I switched to in 2000), I've noticed that if the phone shows one bar, the call quality is very good - all or nothing.

I travelled for three years and Sprint was hands down the best anywhere in the nation. At least 3 in 4 people I worked with who travelled for a living also selected Sprint. I've never had a 'surprise' bill over $50, hammered by strange charges because I didn't know whether or not I was roaming or whatever, and I can add and remove features and services a la carte through Sprint's PCS Web site from month to month without a contract or termination fee. Overall, I worked in over 200 cities in the US from 2000 - 2003, and Sprint never failed me once.

My girlfriend, on the other hand, just got nailed with a $200 Verizon bill last month. My ex-girlfriend (before the current one), ran up a $600 long distance bill on the Verizon phone I bought for her for Christmas 1999.

      Never again.

Sprint may work better where you guys live but they suck here in so-cal. Verizon works everywhere here. Whenever I talk to someone on a sprint phone it sounds like or the call gets dropped. And just for the record I dont use either. I use At&t but I think verizon is the best cell service out right now. I have plenty of friends that use both verizon and sprint. The sprint phones are usually better and have a lot more features but service is more important to me.

I've been a Verizon customer for over four years and I have no complaints. The only dead spots I hit are in the White mountains and who needs a cell phone in the back country. I love the fact that every 22 months I get a $100 credit towards new equipment with a 2 yr contract and I have always been treated well by their representatives when confronted with a problem.

Someone above said Sprint has better equipment and I think that is a nonissue. There may have be a large desparity between providers in the past but from what I've seen all the phones on the market are comperable from one to the next. That's just my opinion

What do you mean by compatable? As far as I know a phone for sprint will only work with sprint service. A phone for verizon will only work with verizon. Is that what you are talking about or did I missunderstand U? Many companies such as nokia will make the same type of phone for different services but you still must buy the one for your particular service.

I have ATT using the GSM network. The GSM network isnt all that great, dont use it. With one bar youd ont get static, but sometimes you dont hear a word or two. But ATT service is pretty good. All my friends use verizon if that means anything.

Verizon. The call quality, isn't all in the service. Me and my friend have verizon, and the same phone. Yet somtimes one of us will be able to make calls fine while the other phone has no service.

I used Sprint for a year and felt they had lousy coverage for a major metropolitan area. Literally 8 of 10 calls would get dropped. I also had a very bad experience with their long distance service on my home phone. I will NEVER use Sprint for anything ever again.

Sprint seems to be better on the east coast. Verizon is better out west. Either way if you don't update your software regularly you're gonna get bad service.

I personally have had verizon for over 3 years now and love it. Only dropped a handfull of calls and haven't had much trouble making calls anywhere between denver and atlanta. I usually have service when my friends (ATT/Sprint) don't.

Thordic, i gotta disagree with you. I just got verizon, and I have yet to run into a dead spot in all of central jersey, northern jersey, or eastern PA. Maybe they have upgraded since you left verizon, but I have had nothing but full bars. I think the lowest I ever went was two bars... at least that I have noticed....

I said comperable (may be misspelled) as in the phones are basicly the same phone with different software. Although you could bring in a phone and have it programed for the new network it is just not a common occurance. So you were onto what I was saying in the second half of your post

Verizon. I use them for cell, local and long distance. Service is always great and the service reps are the best. Very helpful and friendly. I live in MA and can't remember last time I didn't have a signal. Just my 2 cents
